Works of Trolan the Mad

At the heart of Her Serenity lies a paradox. The more I learn about Her, the more complicated She appears to me. But I have discovered that beneath those complexities lie deep simplicities, the reality of Sigil.

I knew it would be a little confusing (after all, that is the point Laughing out loud)... I'm trying to establish some writings of Trolan the Mad... from the Harbinger House adventure. There'll be more to come, however, I think this opening statement has a degree of charm which accurately portrays one possible interpretation of Her Serenity. Whether or not Trolan would agree is another matter entirely, of course Eye-wink.

So of course my question is does Trolan the god have the same feelings for The Lady now as he did before his ascension within Sigil (and subsequent ejection from the city)?

That'd be a curious thing, a god in love with Her Serenity. In love with a mystery that is forever unreachable, he cannot even look upon Her. Unrequited in the greatest of ways.

Indeed. Most nearly everyone at some time in their lives becomes obsessed with something that they cannot truly have...

must be downright frustrating for a god. All that power, and he still can't do anything he wants.

Can anyone love the Lady? She never speaks and rarely appears.

Infatuation? Perhaps.

But love?

Ah, but is he in love with the Lady, or merely his conception of the Lady? If he's created a Lady in his mind that does x, y and z, or he believes he knows WHY she does what she does, he could easily enough fall in love with that image regardless of its relation to the truth.

True enough. Attanasio once had a character ask "Why must one know to love?" so perhaps we can go with the guy in Plato's symposium that says everyone is looking for their other half.

There's also the idea that our emotions, or at least our sense of closeness, retains itself across lifetimes. Perhaps he and the Lady were simply farmers who were childhood sweethearts in the prior Multiverse, and he remembers this on some instinctual level (or they might have had a different relationship but it comes out as romantic love in this lifetime).

I wonder if the Lady remembers the prior Multiverse completely, and how her new self processes that past love...

The Lady has another half out in the multiverse somewhere?! That's a scary thought.

I know that the comment would apply more to Trolan and his need to find "love" in such a [seemingly] unfeeling being.
Before I try to contribute to this thread, can someone refresh me a little on Trolan as it's been a while since I read "Harbinger House". I vaguely remember him having his heart broken or some other tragedy befalling before he went around the bend but I don't remember the details.
What is he seeking in another that he is projecting upon or finding within the Lady?
I did find this /forum/harbinger-house
but I don't recall how much of it is canon.

I kind of think it might Lykhaab (sp?), the wandering Abyssal Lord who is trying to die from Faces of Evil. A Lady of Pleasure to the Lady of Pain.
