Who's the better hunters?

I was looking at the original entries for Githyanki and Githzerai in the 1st ed fiend folio the other day, when I noticed the following line in the githzerai entry

Quote:

The githzerai and the mind flayers hold to an uneasy truce, but this is constantly being broken in isolated skirmishes.

Now, I know the idea of even a partial truce between the 'zerai and the flayers contradicts later canon, but it puts a seed of a question in my mind ...

Who are the better, more dedicated, more skilled, etc. illithid hunters, the Githyanki or the Githzerai?

Or, would you consider them equal banes to the illithid?\

Opinions, please ...

I'd say, in general, they're about even. Although the githzerai tend to have much less presence on the prime, so they're less likely to run into illithids by accident. They make up for it by going intentionally hunting more often.

I'd consider them equals. Both the githzerai rrakkma and the githyanki hunting bands are equally threatening to the illithids.

I also account for the 1e reference by saying there are groups of isolated githzerai, unaffiliated with the Wizard-King of Shr'akt'lor and the Floating City, who do indeed betray their ancestors by treating with the illithids. Dragon #150 called them "the Sporting Clans."
