And I vote for... the Dabus!
What's your favorite planar race?
Planescape is known for several iconic races, one of which became so popular that it was crudely shoe-horned into the third edition Forgotten realms Campaign Setting. Can you guess what race that was?
Personally, I like the yugoloths and tieflings the most. The 'loths are evil and demonic-looking, but turn out to be surprisingly human in behaviour. They're selfish, greedy, mercenary and callous, just like some people can be.
Tieflings, on the other hand, look somewhat demonic but are really just mischievous rebels. They're people, but with strange bodily quirks and a lot of attitude. They've got sass and plenty of cunning from their diluted infernal blood.
What's your favorite race?
PS: I couldn't fit any more options into this poll, so if your favorite race is missing, my apologies. No Xills, Nathri, Ethergaunts, Ratatosk, Gehreleths, Thokola, Neogi or Tso.
Ach...i voted for the githzerai...since in the first Planescape campaign I played, my PC was a githzerai...but the baatezu also hold a special place in my heart
I can't say I've read the FR campaign setting very carefully, so I don't know what race that might be. Would anyone be so good as to reveal this mystery to me?
PC race: Without a doubt, the Tieflings. Roleplaying a "Good" Tiefling is one of the most rewarding challenges I've faced.
NPC Race: The Yugoloths are by far the most interesting Fiends. Tanar'ri are predictable in their hatred and outright destructive qualities. Baatezu, well... Faust was never one of my favorite bits. You never know where you stand with the 'Loths.
Familiar: Can't beat an Ethyk with a stick. Well, you could, but right before you would, it'd probably make you smite a random berk with it.
I am on the Tiefling bandwagon myself though I do really like the githzerai as well. Sadly the only time I have ever been a PC in even a short lived Planescape campaign I was just a human clueless mage waundering around Sigil.
Githyanki, man. All the way. Don't even argue, or they'll conquer your homeworld faster than you can say "Vlaakith."
No Aasimon?
I have to 'neeeeh' cast a lonely vote for 'baaaaah' 'neiiiiigh' 'hawwwww' the 'baaah' Bariaur 'haawwwww.' [gnaws on own shirt sleeve, then two white-coated trainers with electric cattle prods approach threateningly]
Seriously though, I've been reading through the old Bariaur Book of Belief and the Complete Bariaur and it's really made me want to rp a Bariaur Paladin with a holy bariaur war club!
Keep your eyes peeled for bariaur content on PW.com 'cause in the coming months you'll be seeing a fair amount of it. 'neee hawww' [skizzzt!!!] 'Hey, knock it off with those prods, man!
[cue announcer voice]
AND it's MODRONS IN THE LEAD WITH A HUGE ADVANTAGE! BUT WAIT! GITHYANKI AND TIEFLINGS ARE SNEAKING UP ON MODRONS...MODRONS IS STILL AHEAD BY A HAIR...ARCANE TRAILING FAR BEHIND...MUST HAVE INJURED HIS BACK LAST SEASON....AND MODRONS IS CLEAVING TO THE LEAD....THIS IS GOING TO BE AN EXCITING RACE FOLKS....GO MODRONS, GO MODRONS, GO!
[/cue]
Seriously though, has no-one guessed the planar race that got snuck into Forgotten Realms?
And Aasimon (among others) were on the list, but the poll would have choked on so many options.
The genasi, tieflings and aasimar all made it into the 3e FRCS, but I'm guessing the answer you're looking for is tiefling.
Wha...? C'mon, people! Everyone knows the modrons are the best. How could you not love those cute animated toys?
Bariaurs, of course. It's not much of a heaven without the sheep
Rilmani are the best, though it goes without saying. That's why we only have one vote. We don't NEED votes to prove we're the best ever.

So, was I right?
Well, I was thinking of genasi, since 3 of my players chose that race from the Forgotten Realms CS, but you're quite right that tieflings and aasimar are also present. I've read through quite a bit of the FR books and it's amazing how many times genasi pop up.
Not that it's a bad thing to have Planescape seeping into FR, but it does seem a little forced to have planetouched races becoming common on prime material worlds. Tieflings and Aasimar I can sort of understand, being that demons and angels make regular appearances in FR, but genasi are very rare and, to me, peculiar to the Great Ring. <shrug> The more the merrier, I suppose.
I'm a fan of tieflings but after that either the githyanki or the baatezu are my favorites. Githyanki because well, they're ruthless, moral within the dictates of their society, aggressive, merciless and brutal when it's necessary. Plus, prior to the question of whether the Lich-queen still exists, they could use red dragons as mounts. Blood, Death and Fire, sounds like a good combination to me.
Baatezu are ambitious, ruthless, brutal, and will exploit any loophole you give them in any agreement. Most of what I've said about the githyanki applies here as well.

>_< ... Of course, his favorite faction is the Dustmen. Goes without saying.
Actually amusingly enough I usually end up with characters in either the Doomguard or the Dustmen.
Gith. I don't think Githzerai and Githyanki can be seperated, though-- they're not the same, but neither exists without the other.
Yugoloths, definitely. They are the great meddlers.
Toss-up between eladrin and githzerai.
GO Tieflings, GO!!!
