What's the story behind mimir.net?

I know that the mimir.net site has been frozen in stasis for several years now, but does anyone know the story behind that?

This was (and is) a great resource for all kinds of PS stuff, but it seems like it just suddenly died one day. Did the author get bored and leave or was there some legal kerfuffle?

Don't quote me, but as I recall the head of the site had real life get in the way to the point of having to stop doing much besides host it.

Just quoted you! Eye-wink

Anyway, that's basically it. If I recall, Jon Winter (the originator of mimir.net) started to complete his PhD and just found very little time left for the site. So he retired it nad has left it up as a amazing archive for us all.

Mimir.net was sodding brilliant, but it had a number of sections left incomplete. Is anyone working on filling in the gaps?

I have attempted to contact the webmaster in the past to no avail. In the future we may take on the task of filling in mimir's shoes with similar content, and might even house some of their old work within our walls. Of course, that's assuming those lazy webmasters finish OUR website Eye-wink

I can always threaten to kill her character this weekend in my campaign if she doesn't work like a south korean animator. Yay slave labor! Eye-wink (joking)

You're telling me. When it went under, I had about three articles still in the process of being written. One of which (a sect called the Planes-lovers) had taken me weeks to write, because they had to be different for every single plane.

I had thought about doing a 3e conversion at one stage, but it seemed like a hell of a lot of work (again). Shame - I really rather liked the idea.

Because really good sites don't eat pizza? Eye-wink

(No seriously I've got plans to start contacting those websites once planewalker's got all it's ducks in a row - we'll see if we can't get some undead sites going here or some such.)
