Waste Cant

In this thread, I'd like to collect words and terms that we use as standards in our project. Feel free to add your own creations, but only after using them in some other thread to see if they're accepted.

Horde Will / The Will: Every Horde, i.e. every gathering of Hordlings, creates a disembodied Horde mind. This is something like a Hive mind, but instinctive, controlling the Horde while being controlled by it - similar to a fish swarm. The individual power and understanding of a Hordling defines how well an individual can influence the Horde Will.

There are rumours that outside forces can also influence, or even merge with, a Horde Will - for example, the instinctive sentience of the Gray Waste itself, remnants of forgotten gods that exist within the Gray Waste, and others. This is pure speculation, though.

The existence of Horde Wills is known only by a select few; even powerful beings like pit fiends or balors are usually ignorant about their existence. Most Night Hags seem to know this secret, but usually do all they can to keep it to themselves.

Horde Lord/King: Every once in a while, a single hordling supercedes his inferior brethren. Partly because he is more tenacious and evil. But mostly because his bodies manifestation is such as he can supercede others in ability and skill. These rare individuals are also more often than not, unaturally intelligent and more dangerous than a gehreleth without his triangle.

Fade: The process by which the Gray Wastes saps both the identity and the will to live of its inhabitants. Referred to as 'The Fade', 'Fading', or 'Fading away'. This cant is primarily used among the denizens of the Gray Wastes, including the gray sisters and petitioners.

Crux Crone - Night Hag
Rage mavins - a slang word for hordelings, literally meaning 'anger connoisseurs' but likely related to the name of the ancient fiend of anger, Ragamoffyn.
Blinders - portals, which appear in the Waste as golden coins so colorful and bright in comparison to the rest of the plane that they blind the unprepared.

Graeae: Arborean term for Night hags, direct translation means "Gray crones". Specificly, the covey of 3 ancient night hag sisters who plagued worlds under Olimpian protection.

Stygian witch: Baatorian term, used to describe cold and cruel person (woman), wich was inspired by cruelty of night hags. Can be used both as insult or compliment.

It: The Horde / Horde Will from the perspective of an individual Hordling. In the rare case of someone communicating with a Hordling, sentences like "It wants me to kill you" are not uncommon - and commonly misinterpreted.

The Consumption: A term used to describe the act of two or more hordlings when they attempt to merge with one another to create a more powerful being.

The Hate Merge: The term that refers to the hordlings attempt to dominate the will of the other hordlings he attempt to merge with.

The Hate Pact: A method similar to the hate merge but rather than creating a dominant mind, a mutual truce is created amongst the hordling creating what is more commonly known as "The Horde Will"
