Huzzah!
For some reason I have a strange urge to set something on fire in the City of Glass...
I'm pretty sure that there's little chance of you doing that to anything major. Well, anything major and inanimate at least.

And the game is on! Damn, I am looking forward to what happens in the story. Interesting that Arcane Traders don't usally venture to Sigil, and as clueless that I am in the game and out of the game it certainly is intriguing. It makes one wonder what Thalivan has in store for us.
And I presume Rock is your friend Center of All? Anyways, welcome to the team
To Dunamin: I would love to see your character try that! And I as a "lawfull" citizen would point you out to the guards and cry out loud: " There is the bulky little troublemaker, get the Azer!!!" Just for fun and giggles
You know, serious third-degree burns and lighting a face on fire will make anyone look like an azer...
Yes, Rock is the friend I'd been trying to get into the game And now it is a nice group of 5 and considerably more balanced than two warlocks and a wizard
I'll jump things forward to the delivery site tomorrow sometime unless people decide they want to continue the inter-character chats a little longer!

Great!
I wonder which class he is. I am guessing he is a rogue but I am not sure. Well, it will all be revealed later.
Center of All:
I'll jump things forward to the delivery site tomorrow sometime unless people decide they want to continue the inter-character chats a little longer!
Great! But, I believe some of the guys, me included, want a quick tour of the city first, if thats not too demanding
Well, it will all be revealed later.
All will be revealed? Blast!
* Hides "inspiring material" on Ignus from Torment and Richard from LFG *
Welcome to ze gang, Rock. And yes, Coal would very much like to do the tourist routine.
Paging Bob the Efreet, paging Bob the Efreet. Just wondering if you're still around

I'm still here! Just a little late. I lost track of which day it was, and missed the opening. Avast. But I'm here now. Hopefully with slightly more attentiveness.
Pants of the North!
Just a heads-up that I'm going to be advancing you guys to the delivery spot on Sunday, tour or no :) So better get your word in with K'zink if you have a preference one way or the other on his offer.

"Indeed, on one of the primes where this unit's kind are common the 'forged have any number of derogatory terms for the living. Meatbags, bloodsacks, breathers, and a number reffering to your...distasteful habits of eating other living things and then...excreting them."
Anyone played any of the Knights of the Old Republic games? Formula's speech reminds of the trigger-happy meatbag-killing bot HK-47 .
Yeah, I remember him. Crazy bastard . Here are some quotes from him:
- HK-47:"Explanation: It's just that... you have all these squishy parts, master. And all that water! How the constant sloshing doesn't drive you mad, I have no idea...""
- ―HK-47 calls Revan a meatbag
- ***
- HK-47: "Answer: Simply that the distinction between 'killer' and 'killee' be a clear one. I cannot kill of my own volition, naturally."
- Revan: "I don't think 'killee' is a word."
- HK-47: "Expletive: Damn it, master, I am an assassination droid... not a dictionary!"
- HK-47 and Revan
- ***
- HK-47:"Translation: He requires proof of good faith. We must make a contribution to his people that shows we are not a threat. Shall I blast him now, master?"
- ―HK-47 in regards to the Sand People chieftain
- ***
- HK-47:"Explanation: two per cent probability that the miniature organic is simply looking for trouble and needs to be blasted. That may be wishful thinking on my part, master."
- ―HK-47's 'wishful thinking' translation of Iziz's plea for help
- ***
- Mira: "Would you please shut him down? He's been like that ever since he arrived. 'Here's how to kill this, here's how to kill that'..."
- HK-47: "Correction: Assassination theory and the execution of said theories is my primary function. I also possess excellent hearing."
- ―Mira and HK-47
- ***
- HK-47:Answer: Select grenades, sonic screamers, cluster rockets, and plasma charges. Mines are also effective, since many Jedi will run to meet you in hand to hand combat. Silly Jedi."
- ―HK-47 to the Exile on how to kill Jedi
- ***
- HK-47:"Definition: 'Love' is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope. Statement: This definition, I am told, is subject to interpretation. Obviously, love is a matter of odds. Not many meatbags could make such a shot, and fewer would derive love from it. Yet for me, love is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticle, and together, achieving a singular purpose, against statistically long odds."
- ―HK-47 describes his views on love
- ***
- HK-47:"Statement: Oh, yes. My master had quite the collection of tortured individuals that seemed unable to confront their basic personality conflicts. Let me cite some specific examples. [impersonates Carth Onasi] Mockery: "Oh, master, I do not trust you! I cannot trust you or anyone ever again!" [impersonates Bastila Shan] Mockery: "Oh, master, I love you but I hate everything you stand for, but I think we should go press our slimy, mucus-covered lips together in the cargo hold!" Conclusion: Such pheromone-driven Human responses never cease to decrease the charge in my capacitors and make me wish I could press a blaster pistol to my behavior core and pull the trigger. I am pleased that this does not seem to be the case with your current entourage."
- ―HK-47 describes his prior owner[
You edit the post and use the Dice Roller again.
HK's exactly why I threw in meatbag, but most of the ones you may hear from Formula come from an RL campaign, in which one of the characters played a warforged fighter who was absolutley disgusted with how messy living things were, and especially when he saw them eat.
Mondays...
I can think of other bodily "needs" than eating that should traumatize such a warforged even more.
Oh yes. Excretion, reproduction, vomit, haircuts, and erotica came up later as well. Not pleasant. Not at all. (Actually the IC was brilliant, the player had us laughing our rears off with IC comments, which is rare in itself.)
Mondays...
Oh dear. What have I gotten into with your warforged?
So it seems like the consensus is to talk to some folks around, see if anyone saw anything?

I'll get a post in tomorrow, but Coal is fine with interviewing potential witnesses. Oh, and his reaction to looting the corpses in the shop would depend on just how much gold we're talking about...
As for downtime before the meeting, Coal has no intention of waiting patiently for two days in the room of an inn, so he'll probably be spending the time exploring and enjoying the city's highlights and such (happily with fellow PCs). He'll possibly also drop by Istishia's temple with a predictable query...
Il get a post in tomorrow aswell. There wasn't much coin, like 20gp so it's 4gp each and almost not worth it, but what the hell, then il be 4 gp's richer. It's not like they are going to miss it
All right, I'll set something up after class in a few hours.

Bob the Efreet: "Remind me again who has the package. It (and our liquids) must be well-guarded."
So guys, who has the package? As I have written before, I don't mind carrying it, but if there is someone in the group that wishes to carry it, please say so.
Sorry about last night, IRL swept me away, but it seems like you guys are carrying on all right.
As an aside, I would like you all to make a definite decision by tomorrow on what you are going to do. If no consensus has been made, I'm going to advance you to your inn. If ideas are being tossed around, I'll go with whichever idea has the majority vote.
If you all can't come to a clear consensus, remember that you'll have most of a day to do what you want to do. Again, I would really like to move on to the reunion with Thalivan by the end of next week at the latest. Sooner if at all possible.
As I read the posts, it seems like you all have a few choices, both what you came up with and things that are obvious options.
- Lay low, keep the package safe, go about business as usual, and hope nobody comes for you.
- Talk to some of the folks nearby, though as Tamara mentioned, the lack of struggle outside suggests there were no witnesses or the witnesses were involved
- Report it to the city watch. The city watch, however, may be involved in other cases, since this is a very large city.
- Just hang around until Thalivan arrives.
- The Steam Baths
- The Temple of Istishia (or one of the other temples)
- The Deep Gardens
- The Seashell Chalet (or other, smaller fun houses)
- The Marketplace

Keeping the plot moving at a brisk pace sounds good to me.
Its fine if we don't actually play out any ventures Coal might have before the meeting with Thalivan, I just wanted to note that he's going to spend his time very actively. He'll not be sitting or waiting anywhere for length, except to eat, rest, and converse (especially to catch up on old times with Formula).
A brief recap of a trip to Istishia would be nice (naturally, Coal is looking for any kind of help with his condition), but its no problem if you would rather advance the plot.
Whats our plan?
We do have some days to investigate what happen at the shop before Thalivan arrives or we could just relax and have some fun in the city . Anyway, what do people want to do? I believe that Okeanos will hit the library to find any information of how they shopkeepers died and possible explanations. I remember that Dunamin and GunsmackIt mentioned in the game that they were thinking about contacting the constabulary which I believe is both a good and a bad idea:
Good: We can't just leave the corpses to rot in at Alendo's since we would be seen as possible suspects fleeing the scene and it just feels wrong to leave the poor sods like that. The constabulary would take care of bodies for us. We could be cleared as suspects since we voluntarily seek out the constabulary and simply tell them what happened. We could learn if there are other similar cases to this one and if they have some suspects.
Bad: If we like it or not, we are involved and it is easy to see that the perpetrators were looking for something specific since they didn't steal any valuables. We could get detained by the constabulary and they could question our connection with the case, and possible drain all the time we have to make our own investigation and even worse, make us miss the deadline we have with Thalivan. We could get framed with murder. We don't know how deep this goes, if its powerful politician, faction or any other bloke with money or influence standing behind this, just waiting for us to turn in to the authorities and snatch the package from under us. The constabulary wishes to know/see what the package is and that would ruin it and our assignment.
I have no idea what Bob the Efreet or Rock want to do in our sparetime, so what do you blokes want to do?
Hold those Mystery Machine van-pulling horses! You bring up some good points, Columbo, but I'm afraid there are also flawed assumptions:
1. Reporting a murder does not clear you as a murder suspect - on the contrary.
2. We do not know the assailant(s) were searching for something. Though we highly suspect the package in our possession was the objective, it may instead have been an assassination, a rampant elemental, or simply an alchemical mishap that drained all fluids in the building.
3. Coal didn’t suggest contacting city authority, though his reasons for not doing so are not related to morality. If a majority insists on taking such a course of action he probably won’t interject.
I’d say it’s far too early for narrowed speculations. Let’s just follow the plot for a bit before drawing up flowcharts or putting on the forensics hat.
Unless anyone has any further questions for the old man, I'm going to advance you to the inn later today. I'm on US time, but it seems like many of you are on Europe time given when you post, so if you are in Europe, you can probably expect an update from me by morning -- possibly before you go to bed.
If you want to spend time doing something during your free day and want to actually play it out, let me know ASAP. If nobody comes up with ideas, then I'm just going to advance you to the reunion with Thalivan and get things moving again when I post tomorrow.
If people are interested in doing side-RP during the free day, I will hold out until Friday or until the RPs are wrapped up, whichever comes first. On Friday, I'm moving the game to the Thalivan reunion regardless and any loose ends will have to be cleaned up on their own time. Again, for any side adventures during your free day, I'd greatly prefer to do something via Instant Messenger since it would take less time to wrap up.
Alternatively, if you all want, I can just bump you all forward to Thalivan tonight or tomorrow and we can take care of any free day RP behind the scenes.
http://kaitou-kage.deviantart.com/ -- My deviantART gallery
http://www.planescapemetamorphosis.com/ -- Planescape: Metamorphosis, a Planescape webcomic in the works
I don't mind if you bump us to the meeting with Thalivan, but during his freetime, Okeanos will go to the library and search for any information that could explain how the deaders in the shop died and what could have caused it. ( I suppose som sort of Heal, nature and arcane check is required ). I have no need of rp'ing it out since he spends most of the day reading and researching.
Dunamin:
1. Reporting a murder does not clear you as a murder suspect - on the contrary.
Comment: Aye mate. I only said it 'could' clear us not that it would clear us as murder suspects
Dunamin:
2. We do not know the assailant(s) were searching for something. Though we highly suspect the package in our possession was the objective, it may instead have been an assassination, a rampant elemental, or simply an alchemical mishap that drained all fluids in the building.
Comment: True, we do not know the why the assilant(s) killed the shopkeepers and why they didn't wait for us to arrive with the package ( if thats what they are after), but it seems pretty obvious that they where looking for something other than regular loot.
Dunamin:
3. Coal didn’t suggest contacting city authority, though his reasons for not doing so are not related to morality. If a majority insists on taking such a course of action he probably won’t interject.
Comment: My bad
Dunamin: I’d say it’s far too early for narrowed speculations. Let’s just follow the plot for a bit before drawing up flowcharts or putting on the forensics hat.
Comment: yep, but it doesn't hurt to speculate a bit about what is happening and gets some input from you blokes
Not heading to the steam baths to relax?
Anyway, any further thoughts on whether I should bump you guys to the inn or to Thalivan tonight?
http://kaitou-kage.deviantart.com/ -- My deviantART gallery
http://www.planescapemetamorphosis.com/ -- Planescape: Metamorphosis, a Planescape webcomic in the works
No problem for me if we skip straight to Thalivan, keeping in mind that Coal will have been busy during the skipped period (visiting the temple and enjoying the city).
All right, I'll post the reunion later this afternoon/evening.
If anyone has any specific ideas in mind for their free day, contact me. If we arrange a modest behind-the-scenes RP, I might award a modest amount of bonus XP for the scene
Also, please forgive my brain fart. When I made the decision to use an arcane as the hook for the adventure, I completely forgot that they don't go to Sigil. I have no idea where my head was at when I made that mistake, so I beg of you all to do me a huge favor and gloss over that error. When I modulize this adventure, I will make sure that either he's not encountered in Sigil or the party runs across his agent. *sheepish look*
And I should've posted this earlier when you met him, but have a picture of K'zink I did a few months ago. I'll be including sketches and artwork of other NPCs as you meet them.

http://www.planescapemetamorphosis.com/ -- Planescape: Metamorphosis, a Planescape webcomic in the works
Hehe, well that shaved off speculation that the mystery was connected to Thalivan having operated in Sigil.
Very nice colour effects on the illustration for K'zink. Fireworks?
Tamara collects the 50 platinum bag and ferrets its contents away into her pockets.
Actually I think 500 gp = 5 pp, which seems to be a change from 3E to 4E.
Sort of. He used to be a spelljammer navigator and the fire in the sky is what happens when one planet's moon spits out tons of small rocks into the atmosphere. They burn up upon reaching atmo and it's supposed to be a really neat thing to see.
This is correct. Platinum is worth a lot more in 4e.

Oops. I'll fix that.

Provided there are no objections, I'll send you guys back to the Seahorse tomorrow and get things really underway *rubs hands together* >)
I suppose I should have warned you before you joined. As a rilmani, I am obligated to be just as evil as I am good.
http://kaitou-kage.deviantart.com/ -- My deviantART gallery
http://www.planescapemetamorphosis.com/ -- Planescape: Metamorphosis, a Planescape webcomic in the works
Sounds good.
Awesome, that was pretty much a perfect way for Coal to open the fight!
Remember, we are in a combat situation, so you will have about 24 hours to post your turn. Otherwise, you get skipped.
May I suggest that players that miss their round have their character NPC'd for the round, rather than skipped? I understand the intent to promote active players, I'm just worried that the group might get devastated if a member or two misses out for a few rounds, in a tough fight intended for 5 PCs.
The Large-sized enemies *do* have Reach, so bear in mind that if you move adjacent to them, you will provoke an opportunity attack.
As I understand it, this only goes for creatures with Threathening Reach in 4E?
To the first, I'm going to stick with how I have it unless skipping turns becomes a chronic issue that really gets in the way of the fight. If that becomes a big deal, I'll revisit the issue and how it needs to be addressed.
For the second, they do have threatening reach

http://www.planescapemetamorphosis.com/ -- Planescape: Metamorphosis, a Planescape webcomic in the works
New ruling: Immediate Actions
Immediate actions are somewhat difficult to deal with in a forum setting. Furthermore, there are a lot more immediate actions and reactions in 4e than there were in 3e, and ALL of them are optional. So, I propose the following two guidelines for using immediate actions:
1.) If you have an immediate reaction that you think will be triggered, remind me that you have the ability in the OOC portion of your combat post and remind me what triggers it. I will activate your ability at the first triggering opportunity and include it as part of my post. This will be easier to do for some powers like Shield that change your defenses because then I won't have to go back and retroactively change the resolution of certain actions. Some abilities such as opportunity attacks won't require this.
2.) If an immediate (re)action applied during the last DM combat post, make a note of it and express your desire to use it in your next post. Where possible, I'll go back and adjust things the next round. This will work best for abilities that don't actually change any roll modifiers/defenses, but instead provoke opportunity actions or reaction actions.
Any thoughts?
Also, I will be posting tonight after I get back from work since I don't have access to my map software here.
http://kaitou-kage.deviantart.com/ -- My deviantART gallery
http://www.planescapemetamorphosis.com/ -- Planescape: Metamorphosis, a Planescape webcomic in the works
Sounds fine to me.
I would keep particularly aware when Okeanos marks someone, since that allows him to interrupt damage with his defender abilities under certain conditions.
Whoa ! Okeanos and I are already bloodied!
Coal's Bloodcurse Rod has the effect of letting his pact boon also trigger when the cursed foe is bloodied, by the way, in case that first attack dealt enough damage (which should be 29 rather than 24, looks like the curse damage was overlooked).
Yeah, its a tedious bug. I try to change the "Input Format" option just above the Dice Roller until it displays right (usually works when you choose "BBCode w/Freelink w/o Linebreak").
Yep, kinda nasty, but I still believe we will kick those facets arse!!! Well hopefully !
"(which should be 29 rather than 24, looks like the curse damage was overlooked)."
Whoops! I did forget, but the creature is not yet bloodied, so your boon hasn't triggered yet.
Something to note: I'm in the process of inputting the character sheets into the D&Di character builder. Should make the math and number crunch a lot easier. Once I get everyone in, I'll create PDFs of everyone's sheets and upload those for your benefit. If you haven't seen the sheets the program produces, they are excellent. The numbers add up smoothly and all the sheets come with power cards that list your attack modifier, damage roll, and other pertinent information to each individual power right there. Very handy!
I have noticed a couple of things on some sheets that needed to be changed. When I complete the sheets, if your sheet needed adjusting, I will send you a PM.
http://kaitou-kage.deviantart.com/ -- My deviantART gallery
http://www.planescapemetamorphosis.com/ -- Planescape: Metamorphosis, a Planescape webcomic in the works
Dammit, those facets don't like me very well
Look's like the next round is going to hurt . I am currently flanked, I have marked s2 and i am blocking the way for the two large hobos and apparently 4/5 facets attacked me alone last round.
To Center of All: That sounds great!
New ruling: Immediate Actions
I think thats fair, but there is only one problem. I have loads of Immediate actions, abilities and one magic item. Il try to keep that in mind when I play but sometimes you can't always forsee what can or is going to happen. Il do my best from now on to remind you my Immediate Actions.
Atriden, if it comes up after the fact, let me know and if it's appropriate, I'll adjust accordingly :) For example, you have the warding that reduces damage your marked target deals. If I forget, you can just point it out to me after the round on your turn and I'll adjust the status on my next post!
As an aside, I will update the round this evening. Had a meeting with my graduate thesis committee today, among other things, so life got a little crazy for a bit!

Sure thing Chief
Doh! Looks like we've run into some rotten luck, it would appear I just missed with my Daily and both secondary attacks from the zone of darkness . At least they'll still take 2d10+1 upon starting turn in it...
Center, just to be sure, does Coal now have 36 hp and 8 temporary hp?
Ohh, sorry Dunamin. I don't know why but I couldn't open your link, but nm, I can do it now
