Thinking about Issue 2

So thanks to Mogget layout work proceeds on Issue 1.

I wanted to start some discussion on Issue 2. One thing is that we should probably try for page count of about 20 pages, that should be doable without strain. (Let me know if I'm wrong about this.)

I think it might be nice to have a different feature than Killing Lady Part II, even if this means splitting the last part of the Killing Lady article across Issues 2 & 3. Not sure what this would be, so we can always keep Killing Lady Part II as a safety net.

Biggest thing is artwork and if possible more stats.

Re: Thinking about Issue 2

Are you still going to use those celestials articles you were talking about in the issue 1 planning posts? Good always seems to get left out of the spotlight the fiends are hogging, so those were a really nice change of pace.
I wasn't quick enough to apply for the first issue, but I'd really like to help with the art on the second. I prefer drawing exemplars (not just celestials) and monsters. Unfortunately, most of my art posted online is pretty old, but if you pick a character from one of those article suggestions or any Planescape character who's easy to find a visual description of I can draw a sample of what my current stuff looks like. I was scribbling the Lady and some exemplars a while ago, too, I could polish those up instead.

I'd love to have a celestials article -> There's one by me in the queue, but I'd like to have other authors come in and write stuff if they want.

Here's mine:

For Issue 2 I was thinking maybe we could do planar metropolises as the topic. As I got permission from Rip I put a few of his cities in the editor queue, I'm guessing we could come up with more.

Perhaps a history buff might have some advice on making cities from different time periods feel more real? A physics or math person might have something to say about creative cities?

Hey, Sciborg2,

The Serge and I are considering putting together a piece to introduce your readers to Dicefreaks's Godspell Campaign Setting's Midlorr as a world within the Prime Material Plane, since you had asked for submissions over at Dicefreaks a while ago.

Is there any niche or approach that would make this article fit optimally with issue 2? I was thinking of possibly doing a short story or character profile that showcases a high-profile interaction between Midlorr and the planes beyond and/or doing a simple profile of the world for your series on the Material Plane (if that ever materialized... I haven't seen issue 1 yet). Any pointers on structuring such an article would be appreciated. Smiling

Re: Thinking about Issue 2

Hey! Right now given the size of the first issue our thankfully patient/dedicated layout guy was working with, I figured it would be best to have Issues 1 and 2 as one document.

I like the idea of a short story. What length are you thinking? Ideally what we'll be calling Issue 3 (set for summer) will be 20 pages or less.

Also, if you have artwork that'd be great. But it isn't necessarily required! Smiling

Re: Thinking about Issue 2

How much of those 20 pages do you want covered? Sticking out tongue

I had thought probably 3-4 pages, including crunch for something relevant, like a monster.

Could likely manage art in that much time.

4 pages with art sounds perfect!

Thanks!

I would like to provide some art, if it would help?

Thanks Imp!

Right now we're going to take some stuff that would have gone into Issue 1 and put it into Issue 2. This should give Mogget and the editors a bit of a break.

What kind of stuff are you interested in drawing? There will probably be an evil planar metropolis article in there, along with a celestials article. I think the Dice Freaks guys will be putting in their own art but I'll double check.

I'll draw anything. Which cities are you covering? I'd love to draw the City of Brass or the Crawling city. Maybe a necropolis.... Or all three. I can also draw celestials. Anything, really. I'm not saying it'll be good. You can decide that, obviously.

I have time this weekend. I'll draw a bunch of sketches. Should I link them here?

Linking them here is fine- are you a member of deviantArt (It's free and there is a Planescape art group).

thanks!

Imp, here's the planar metropolis by Rip I was thinking of including for the next issue (out in Summer):
