The Planescape LARP!

Hi all!

About half a year ago, my co-author posted around to let people know we were working on the rules for a Planescape LARP. Well...

We're finally finished!

The setting is after all published Planescape, minus Faction War, so as to keep from excluding anyone. The rule-system itself is based on Rock-Paper-Scissors, though bears only a mild resemblance to White Wolf.

The Core of our system is the Talents mechanic, which comes in two varieties: Mundane and Magical. The nine mundane talents are each linked with the nine magical ones. Accomplishing any task in the game is done through this simple, balanced, and flexible mechanic. No longer is magic divided into spell-sized bundles. Now, with more ease than any "open-magic" system we've encountered, it's easy for spell casters to build their effects, custom made, without the DM/Storyteller to be constantly fearing for game balance. It's also quick--other players aren't waiting around for the caster and the DM to FIGURE OUT what happens.

The system has been tested extensively as a LARP, but also as a table-top system (a dice-variant is presented in the back of the book, and though tested, we've stuck to R-P-S because it's easier).

We believe that this system is not only good for live-action games, but also worth converting any planescape game to because it is much more flexible and much LESS fighting based than DnD. Finally, there's a system where all aspects of role-playing are given equal attention.

Anyway, I'd be happy to answer any questions you've got. In addition, a softcover version of the book is available for purchase or download from Lulu.com. The link:

Thanks all! Sorry for the (on-topic) spam!
