You might not notice them but they're there, berk.
Go to the tavern and you might see a couple restocking the kegs, or perhaps at a mage shop you might find one dusting and organizing the shelves. Down the street you might pass Faction blood with one of them trotting along taking notes. Heck I hear even the likes of Jerimo, the Bell Ringer, Akin, and The Marauder keep a few around every now and then.
..Kobalds, berk, just reached adulthood. See, the dark of it is that there is a tribe of em took roots in this City of Doors; one that seems to have more than a small grudge against ol'Kurtelmak.
The way the tribe works is simple really. They provide a steady supply of young, dependable, and fairly well taught workers to bloods through out the city, on the cheep, and these workers are "paid" in the "experience" of it.
Might seem like a bunch of Sensate blathering but a little work experience can change a cutter's view on the world, and a lot can be over heard while taking notes, or changing out kegs.
I figure they use it as sorta a right of passage deal, get the young one out where they can learn a bit about the multiverse while they can still have some degree of safety. After all, even fiends recognize that a dependable source of help is not a resource to be throw away lightly-even ol'razorvine head herself I hear refrains from scragging most of hers, even though I also hear she goes through em fast and some of em don't come back from it.
I suppose keeping out of the dead book is part of the test as they keep sendin new ones to her.
What don't believe me?
