The Great Jihad

Following the Astral War, and the discovery of the Outer Planes, the Muslim peoples of the world (with some slight urging by US agents) reacted fairly predictably: their leaders called for Jihad against these pagans and infidels. The result was within a year, hundreds of millions of young men and women had joined the cause, and were marching into the Outlands (with the help of the US Government's portal- after all, if they were attacking planar pantheons and pagans, they aren't attacking the US).

While there were many initial setbacks (and a few failed invasions of the Lower Planes until it was declared that their targets were the mortals and false gods, not the exemplars), their successes have been phenomenal successes incuding the capture of several gatetowns, the sacking of Tir na Og, the deaths of the powers that lived there (following a series of miracles that the Muslims attribute to Allah, and that planars attribute to the power of their beleif), and the conversion of the Athar. There are currently several invasions attacks being planned; rumors indicate possible targets as several of the more powerful pantheons (such as the Seldarine or Olympian pantheon).

The leader of the Great Jihad is Ayatollah Ali ibn Muhammed, a middle aged human of Middle Eastern appearance (Charismatic Hero 10/Feild Officer 10/Glamourist 1) who is well known for his rousing speeches and sermons. All of the members of the Great Jihad have a Fanatic attitude towards him. Many Planars refer to the Great Jihad as an up-and-coming faction, though he does not like to be referred to as a factol, and his followers tend to get offended when people do.

I don't know, don't any of you think that it might be a little offensive for Muslims? I mean, havn't those people suffer enough abuse?

Other then that, it's an interesting idea.

Well, if any Muslims here want to complain (or offer advice on how to make it more realistic), they're more than welcome to do so. With that said, they're the ones who divide the world into the "House of Islam" and the "House of War".

i like the planewalker website. even if i never post anything here, i read it often and i find always good things for planescape. but i don't like this thread.

who divide the world into the "good states" and the "rogue states"?? who divide the world into the "rich states" and the "states already or soon to be exploited"?? who go around the world making wars and killing innocents? BOTH the Islam (because there are some fanatics) AND the Occident (because there are some people without scruples).

I know that some Muslims are extremists and fanatics. Maybe they are just a little minorance (i hope), maybe the most part of them, i cannot know. But i know that Muslims are not the "Villains". The world is much more complicated and maybe wikipedia is not the best source for understanding it.

Said that, i would like to apologize to everyone for this discussion. I know that this is not the right place to debate about these kind of things. And i apologize to Nick012000 if i offended you because i don't know you and your precise ideas. Excuse me. Your idea is indeed interesting, but only inside the game: i don't like your real life metaphore. Sorry again to everyone, i don't want to casue troubles. From now on i will limit myself to read your materials and enjoy planescape!

Thread lock.

You're grownups last I checked - you should know better than to get on a hot topic like this in forums like these.

Besides - the subject is irrelevent - *this* is precisely why UP decided not to have our own earth be the basis for the setting.
