I was talking about the movie "Curse of the Golden Flower" with one of my friends lately, and it struck me today: I think the royal family therein is a somewhat usable model of how one might depict the githyanki royal family.
The Emperor is close to how I imagine Vlaakith: A malicious monarch radiating supreme authority. Everything and everyone seem to devote their life to perfecting the wishes of their master, yet under the surface plots and conspiracies creep among all members of the royal family. Tragedies abound and when treachery is discovered, the punishment is vicious and cruel. I particularly find the discipline they all carry themselves with very much an attribute that also can be credited to githyanki.
I haven't seen the movie, though I do tend to like historical subjects. I do think that members of the Githyanki royal family would be far more prone to treacherousness and intrigue than the average githwarrior. In stark contrast, in fact. A bit of that might rub off on the rare common-born Githyanki that they closely associate with.
