The "common" adventure party

Hello all planewalkers on board, nice to see a active planescape forum.

As there is a almost ordinary clueless adventure party setup, Elf wizard, Dwarf fighter, Human Cleric, Halfing rogue and so on. I just want you to rattle your bone box for ideas, for the ordinary adventure setup for planescape.

The "common" adventure party

Hi Mortic, and welcome to the Planewalker forums!

A standard party should be as suitable for a great Planescape game as any Tiefling/Aasimar/ Half-Dragon/Eladrin one. It's not the race that counts but the beliefs. Are you starting on a prime material world or in the planes? What I found useful for starting parties is to have the players write down a few lines of what their characters believe in and then try to match that to the existing factions. Build encounters based on those beliefs and allow the PCs to join factions and shape the multiverse a little. For example, if a fighter states that keeping his promise is important to him, let him interact a little with the Ring-Givers; perhaps a gift given along with a promise will circle back to the fighter in a later encounter, and a door may be opened by an old castellan who once promised to never stop tending to it.
