Kadar's pretty short on cash at the moment so that'd work for him, although the ring of sustenance would be nice (I'd suggest we give it to M'rek but he'd probably burn it out).

Pausing where I did to let Duckluck explain the Temple's reaction to this offer, which I imagine doesn't happen often, before I continue. :^)

If the temple is interested in responding in kind, there are a number of options: spellcasting services, trade of magic items, or, perhaps quite interestingly from an RP standpoint, I suddenly think of exploration, settlement, and mineral rights to some of those mountains in Athena's domain, if they really are unsettled.

Later, Zhegre will naturally head to Gear Street to wait for his friend. If Duckluck is amenable to the coincidence, he could happen to see a gnomish paladin walk by with the stamp of a familiar high-quality leather goods maker from back home, or learn about the impending trial some other way.

My apologies! I had not the foggiest of how H would take Polp's response, so that left me hanging for a bit. Yet, I also got swept up in school and other trains of thought (such as my novel coming out soon!)...however, excuses aside, I regret to have left it stalled. And so, I posted a reply. Hope that helps start the gears of gaming once more!

There doesn't seem to be anything happening to M'rek and Kadar. A kid threw a rock or something (which I thought was a little harsh given my performance result but I suppose Sigil would be a really tough gig) but that's about it for us.

Oh come on, that wasn't a performance review, that was a Plot hook! Oh well, you don't have to bite that particular hook if you don't want to.

I'm going to be out of town from the 22nd to the 28th so sorry if my posting is irregular over that period. My internet's also playing up but I should be able to get that fixed soon.

I'm interested. What role needs filling and is all the information needed for character creation on page 1 of the thread? Is everyone at 5th level still?

We just recently hit 6th. We're presently in Sigil, having left half an arc ago.

And we've gone through Linji, P&~P, and Baba in that period of time, not to mention collecting Polp and Hilaren after having received our mission. Look, can we please give weishan one of the vanished PCs, to maintain some continuity? The degree of accommodation required to churn characters this fast begins to seriously strain credulity. The plot may be inching along in real time, but in game time the group needs to maintain some kind of cohesiveness.

And watch Weishan go into fits as he tries to figure out where all Baba's feats come from? Tell you what Weishan, if you want to play any of the vanished characters you can, but I honestly wouldn't recommend it. I'll try to explain where people went and make the whole "half the party is missing" thing work, but I'd rather do that myself than force someone to play a character he didn't make. What you can do is set up your character as being one of the other party members old friends that would save me the trouble of having to find a convoluted reason for you to join up.

Also, in case it wasn't obvious, that means you're in Weishan. Your character will be level 6 (with exactly as much XP as everyone else) and is expected to conform to all the rules I've laid out in my first post. Make sure you understand how Munch Points, Planar Alignments, and my skills work (and yes, I know I have a lot of house rules, but I assure you, they're all awesome). You can also go back and read the in-character archives, but I'm not going to force you to (keep in mind though, I'm also not going to summarize things for you).

As for what character role you should fill, the party just lost a wizard, so anything that can provide magical support (Wizard, Psion, etc) would be very useful. We do have a cleric, a spellthief, and a Ranger/Druid though, so it's not totally essential. We could also use a front-line melee type. Poor Kadar was built to deal damage, not take blows and Zhegre can take a fair bit of punishment, but isn't amazing. The roles we don't need to fill are Healer (to the extent that that is a role at all), Rogue, and Melee support.

----

Oh, and to people who aren't Weishan, I just noticed that M'Rek and Kadar's sheets both seem to have died when TheTangledWeb broke down. It's possible the site will return in the future, but until then, I'd suggest recreating your sheets over at myth-weavers.com. Don't worry if they don't look exactly like the old ones did. Just do the best you can.

That's perfect, I've got a dwarf psion and sculptor (shaper) ex-godsman, who I really want to play, it'd be pretty easy to connect him to Zhegre. I can have a character sheet and baisic bio and background by the end of this weekend. I noticed that too, Trias lost his sheet in my game.

Three quick questions:
1. how many munch points to get a wepon focus feat?
2. How many munch points to learn annother third level power?
3. How much do I have to spend on gear, still 9,000, or altered for a higher level?

1. Two is what I charge for all feats. I could only charge you one because Weapon Focus sucks, but I won't. Why are you taking it as a Psion, anyway?

2. Hmm, I'll have to mull this one over. I'll get back to you.

3. Give yourself 12,000. It's less than you should have at this level, but I'll give you more soon.

He's a very militant psion, con is the highest ability, and he has 1 level of barbarian, he's got a greatclub which he likes to use way too much for his own good. i'm just trying to make the concept playable (so he can hit stuff). Expanded knowledge lets you learn a power one level lower than you can usually manifest from any list, so it's a bit better than a feat.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, I've spent the last week out with the flu and it sort of put me off posting.

Anyway, Expanded Knowledge would cost two munch points, just like any other feat. The only problem with your sheet I see at first glance is one too many ranks in Craft. I'll look it over more later, probably, but honestly I don't care too much. D&D is about playing good characters, not making them.

that's cool. I've been unable to post for the last few days myself because of school. But I'm not taking expanded knowledge since I want to learn a third level power. Is it still 2 points? Also, can I use the action-points section to write down munch points. I'll get the background to you this weekend.

Posting background here as instructed by Duckluck. And he left the Godsmen/Mind's Eye after the faction war.

Aloric Helgarin was born in the Dwarven Mountains in the Outlands. Uncharacteristically, he proved to be quite incompetent at the arts of smithing. Disheartened, he left his home and set out to Sigil, determined to make his name as a warrior if he couldn't make it as a smith. A few tavern brawls and hefty fines later, Aloric decided that there had to be a better way to make a name than a petty brawler. This led him to fall in with the Godsmen, embracing new challenges to improve himself. His mentor (killed in the Faction War) taught him to experiment with other crafts than metalwork. Eventually he discovered that he was a skilled sculptor. He made a name for himself in the Great Foundry, though he was never associated with the sculptor's guild. After the faction war, he left the Mind's Eye, generally disaproving of the Signers' point of view.

Eventually, Aloric's increased understanding of himself led him to explore the potential power within himself-learning the ways of the mind.

More recently, Aloric has become worried that he is getting complacent. He wishes to prove he is still able to meet life's challenges. He also wishes to test the extent of his newfound psychic might. (Maybe would have heard of Zhgre's adventuring and asked to come along)

Aloric is of typical height for a dwarf, though he is built even more sturdily than an ordinary dwarf. He has a long red-brown beard braided into silver and jade rings. Aloric tends to dress as he does in the workshop--lose tan robes and a leather apron. The only difference in his appearance adventuring is a beautifully crafted dwarven breastplate and a backpack. Aloric always carries an ornate metal greatclub trimmed in silver and gold on his person. He is not at all hesitant to smash heads with it if necessary.

Aloric extols the dwarven virtues of hard work and stoicism. He is also gruff and reserved like the stereotypical dwarf. Despite this, he is friendly to those he holds in high regard. Aloric’s time in the Godsmen has taught him the values of individuality and self-determination. Aloric also frequents many taverns and while he does his best not to, often gets into trouble. He tends to smash first and then ask questions despite his considerable intelligence.

FYI, I'm not going to be around most of this week -- conference. Not that posts have been coming more than about weekly anyway, this month.

Gad. This game may not be dead, but only technically. It's more sort of lurching along slowly, no apparent motivation, pieces (a.k.a. players) falling off here and there... really, it's more of an undead game. I don't think I've ever been in one where almost the entire player complement has changed since the session I joined. Look, Duckluck, there's no particular reason I personally have to drop out, nor is there any particular barrier to just necromantifying the game every week or so. But maybe we ought to just put a stake in it and move on. If not, I'm not quitting, I can still hang around and post... hardly taking much effort to keep up with it.

OK, I get what you're saying. I know I haven't been posting enough, but I've been waiting for people to post. Which is stupid because they've been waiting for me to post. From now on I'm just going to post constantly and if that turns the game into just two people talking back and forth, so be it.

If you've never played in a game where most of the players leave in the first year, you haven't played a lot of PBPs. Sad as it is, this kind of game is pretty much par for the course. I'll try to get this game going again though.

Oh, and I just realized, my first post in this thread was made a year and six days ago. Happy anniversary guys!

OK, JaggedOldRed has been AWOL for a while, I just wasn't dealing with it because he wasn't driving the plot for a while, but now that Benyamin seems to have vanished as well, the plot has started to derail. It pains me to have even more turnover, but on the plus side, it means that the people we are left with are all fairly frequent posters and the game should start moving again. Also, since the party rolls they filled are already occupied, we don't really need to replace them (although anyone new who wants to join is welcome).

So, say hello to the new and improved Team Prophecy!

Finally, we're done in Mechanus and there's no point waiting around for someone who isn't here to say something, so I'm skipping forward. I hope you don't mind.

So Zhegre really is willing to give a go at discussing "we think something around here may be responsible for, err, possibly tearing the Planes apart, you have to live here too, do you have any idea what it might be and if you're doing it would you mind stopping?" before running around trying to off somebody stubborn. If the diplomacy route/ruse takes off, people might be interested in a couple of gaming articles on medieval diplomacy. Very nice resource for such characters in general, actually: They're here and here, in the order of a two-part series, if you have a subscription to Pyramid e-zine. (And if you don't, it's a good deal! $20 a year, weekly publication, lots of great stuff for all gaming systems, like this background information, as well as stuff for specific systems like d20, GURPS, and others.)
