Ok, some updates here: 1)

Ok, some updates here:

1) Dice module - I know, I'm working on it. Previous dice rolls are not imported over yet.

2) The rich text editor toggle link didn't works - it does now. I had to load an earlier version of tinyMCE.

3) The rich text editor overlaps with the right bar. Also fixed, had to hack that copy of tinyMCE.

4) The forum post slides left by a few millimeters, at random, cumulative - I think this is tied to the way IE7 processes CSS. Fix in the works.

5) SQL error - should be getting caught now.

6) Color and formatting errors - also fixed. Filters may be further tweaked once we're sure tinyMCE is working right.

New Form Post Feed?

Well...

I am not yet sure I like the new design, but there is more important stuff than my taste, because...

...the first thing I noticed is that all the Planewalker pagers take longer to load since the change.

I am really missing the new form post RSS Feed (which I consider far more reliable for not missing anything than the "New Forum Post Sidebar" on the starting page.

Any chance of getting it back?

Talking about the formus, there are three other things not working as expectef:

1) The links from the "New Forum Post Sidebar" don't take me to the new post, but the beginning of the thread.

2) Why is the first message of the thread actually displayed on the top of every page (instead of the last post of the previous page as in the old version)?

3) There still is no thread page navigation above the post (as in almost every othr forum), which I remember was asked for ages ago.

Particularly in the PbP games that feels strangely disjointed.

Edit: After Posting (on the second page), I ended up on the first page of the thread (instead of seeing my post, which feels strange to me.

The "amount of time since

The "amount of time since the most recent post in X thread" is not consistent between the New Forum Posts area on the main page and the listing for a thread on the forum page. (About 8 minutes difference.)

Edit: Hmm, the name of the player in the "Last Post" section on www.planewalker.com/forums is not consistent with the most recent post in the thread (if the user goes to actually read the thread) or with the New Forum Posts area on the main page.  Perhaps one of them is checking for "most recent creation of a new post," while another is checking for "most recent edit of an existing post."

This is why I'd hoped my

This is why I'd hoped my initial 'test please' request would have gotten some more response from everyone, to try to catch this sort of stuff beforehand. We really really really needed to upgrade to a new system, so I want to thank you guys for some patience here as we settle into place.

OldBard: New post links from the sidebar: I'm actually working on that one right now, it's on the reported bugs list.

The fist post appearing on every page should be fixed now - it's a pecularity of Drupal's forums that does that. I fixed it late last night, so let me know if that's still happening.

Thread nav at the top is now added to the to do list.

Posting returns to the first page is also already on the bug fix list, so it'll get fixed up soon as I can.

Zim: re-inconsitant names, I could believe that's the problem, I'll check those files to see if tha's whats going on.

?? Did you not spot the little RRS feed link at the bottom of every forum after the topics list? For example:

/forums/meta-planewalker/bug-reports-/-other-p...

Was that the sort of thing you were looking for or are you looking for one for All the forums at once?

Opera Problems and Forum Feeds

I am normally using Opera, and I can neither use the rich text reply window (nothing happens and no cursor appears when I click on the window and it is empty even if hit the quote button) nor the "disable rich-text" link, which does nothing. (I am posting this using Firefox)

Clueless wrote:

No. I usually look for the RSS Symbol in the browser address bar, which is only displayed on the front page.

Clueless wrote:

I was looking for the All forums in one feed.

Also the title and the Silver Ennie Images on the front page seem to be gone (in any Browser).

Partially. I did recieve the last 15 updates, as usual when subscribing to that feed on old Planewalker, but there have not been any updates since the Planwalker downtime yesterday.

The links in the posts take me to the first page of long threads instead of the last.

I turned that module off for the moment till I can determine why it's causing that problem.

By the way, is there any chance of getting quoted text to be slightly differentiated from the rest of a post? Maybe the background around it can be slightly tinted as I remember it being. The slight indentation is, imho, just not noticeable enough.

Just to make sure, you're at /crss not /_drupal/crss - I've added an apache redirect to make Sure that links are redirecting from the temp site correctly, but if your feed has any trouble - make sure it's at the right URL first.

b) Noted and working on it, it'll take some module hacking to fix that.

And lastly - as you can tell quoted text is now highlighting correctly. Eye-wink

I was on the wrong address and have changed it to the right one.

Can we get the forums to be full-screen again? The New Articles, Poll, etc. on the right makes the forums harder to read.  (I find it very frustrating.)

URL links don't seem to be able to handle parentheses in the URL, for example:

Is there a way to fix this, or escape out the parentheses, or...?

I'm pretty sure PW.com articles don't need to include text signatures.  Smile

I wanna see if this works: Try heading over to your site settings: /user/2043/edit - It will probably ask you to login to confirm you are you, and you should see an option for block configurations. That way you can turn the sidebars off for your account.

I've also found the

I've also found the sidebar annoying and knowing I can disable it is a help, but if everyone did that it would sort of defeat the point of having a sidebar. Is there any way you could just shrink it? I'm using 1024x768, and while the pages are still readable, the line length makes it awkward to read anything long. You don't have to do anything drastic, but there's about an inch of empty space between the posts and the sidebar the could be cut.

Also, looking at the top of this very page, I see that the links to the different pages of the thread ("first previous 1 2") have dropped down a line and are half covered by your post at the top of the page. I'm using Firefox 3 and have seem similar format bugs on other pages.

Off by one error -- forum pages

The end of a URL for a particular forum will read, for example: page=41

However, the list of available pages for that forum (first, previous, 1 2 3 etc...) will indicate that 42 is the current page.

Not an error: Pagation in

Not an error: Pagation in the SQL database starts at 0, the "off by one" is for human readable text on the site. The links are correct.

It would take some pretty in depth hacking to change that - though thank you for keeping an eye out for oddities like this. :)
