Snail Outfitters seeking new inventory items.

Berks, bloods and cutters, lend me your ears! I promise I will return them!

Snail Outfitters is expanding once more and is looking for for tarmy bloods to help us expand our inventory.
We are seeking items useful to planewalkers, be they incantations, equipment, or undefineable. We will pay good jink for worthwhile items, even more for a regular supply of them. (submissions and contributions may be made using the following incantation in modron-speak /mypw/ )

We are also looking for new ideas for tours of the various planes and guides to lead them. Preference given to members of the Planewalkers Guild.

Snail Outfitters, coming soon to a gate town near you!!

the phrase "we will pay good jink," is an in character statement and has nothing to do with our using a nonexistent budget to pay for articles.

It just struck me as I was having coffee this morning that it might get misconstrued if I did'nt pop in and clarify that.

Oh? Well, OK then, I' guess I'll post these at the Bone-Box Rattler then... Eye-wink

Wait till you see their fine print! Imaginary jink is only the least of it! Still, they also have a fine collection. Perhaps I should look 'em up.

BTW, Nemui, I would love to see what you would come up with. Your work on the pantheons has been delightful!

Thanks.

The thing about Snail Outfitters is that it's an "anything goes" category, so it's almost never the first choice for submission. Actually, I believe I already have some stuff posted to SO, some arcane spells IIRC...

Anyway, I'm sending up some grafts as we speak. We'll discuss jink later.

I may have some material here that I can alter in order to submit.

My own homebrew rules for magic item creation will make it difficult for these items to be used elsewhere, unless of course I submit those rules also, and send them through to the other sections of PW.com...

No how could you do that Fell I am sure they are so overwealmed with submissions they couldn't possibly use any more!!! Laughing out loud Err wait then why would there be a post here asking for them. "That's because ....." trails off and walks away.

I was merely considering it, because my creation rules place more emphasis on fluff than crunch, and many players may not find them that useful... Eye-wink.

I was obviously just joking as I am sure you saw. I understand compleltly I am a DM that praises storyline far above rules. Also if something will take too long to lookup and do "right" I just make a call and keep the storyline going. Last but not least I hate hearing other players tell me what I can't do in my own games, sure maybe its not likely I would do something or even should but its still my game and roleplaying is supposed to allow you to do things you "can't"

Anyway I may have some snail submissions here at some point but in the really short term I have some more reviews I am working on and I have 6 characters I use in a party for my Planescape Demo (soon to be Demos) and I think I am going to format them so I can add them to Cutters before most anything else submission wise at this point.

Yes, I had assumed that was the case Cool.

It's just the previous experiences I've had from message boards like WotC. There can be some DMs and players who are highly resistant (and very vocal) about anything that departs from established rules.

New Stuff

I, for one, would love to see the alternate rules you mention. Then the items, when submitted, can refer back to the optional rules. Besides, there is a good bit of crunch on making magic items, but not much fluff. I love both so bring 'em on!

Would you be interested in some psionic drugs? Rules-wise, I mean...

I guess I'd have to include a summary of drug mechanics from the BoVD, don't know if that's OK?

We don't seem to have a huge number of them here - well, there are some - but not a lot. In either case, they tend to hush up right fast when it's pointed out that this is a *house* rule and they don't have to take it if they don't want it.

You've got me curious now though! I wanna see em! Smiling

Psionic Drugs

I myself am a huige fan of psionics. I have used them in my games ever since 1st edition. BEfore you post that stuff let me check on whether the drug rules in BoVD are open content or not. If not we cannot use them legally. Now you might be able to put something together using the intoxication rules from the Arms and Equipment Guide, but I have yet to compare the two systems and am not sure how close they are.

Whatever the decision, please be careful how you present the subject. I myself am nearly impossible to offend, but there are many who get in an uproar whenever drugs, sexuality, or RL religions are brought into gaming. Just look at all the vitriol on the net about Valar Press and their erotic d20 efforts.

We are a site that attracts people of all ages, and in order to retain our status must be careful. I am not trying to discourage you (not at all!), but rather pointing out some of the pitfalls of this type of entry.

Always looking forward to your work, Nemui!

I think we're a much more sedate and sensible bunch over here.

I never let rules get in the way of a good idea. It's all about the FLUFF! Smiling

Rules 'N Fluff

I tend to like both a lot. That is one reason that I enjoy 3.5 DND. The rules and crunchy aspects are streamlined and allow for infinite customization giving my PCs and I guidleines on how to rapidly resolve any die rolling situation. HAving things so logical and stackable allows me more time for the fun part- storytelling!

Of course in my games every player knows that just because it is a rule does not mean I won't make a DM Ruling tht throws it out in a particular instance. Story is the objective, rules are simply a roadmap to getting there and fluff is the stuff you remember doing on the trip. All are aimportant.

I would like to encourage fluff as the majority of WOTC and other publishers seem to be focusing on crunch only.

<grins evilly> C'mon, lets get FLUFFY!!!

That is a relatively grand assumption. And one of the many reasons why I prefer PW.com to the planar boards at WotC.

Pardon, but I am not clear on your meaning when you say "That is a relatively grand assumption."

Clarify please.

I apologise Eye-wink.

I meant grand... as in something wonderful. Something that you can enjoy time and time again. That is why I've made my home here now, rather than at the WotC boards.

The fact that you're all encouraging the pursuit of the more flufflier elements of roleplaying is why I'm here. And I'm thankful for it Cool.

I concur, I like the crunchy stuff as well, but the fluff is where the heart of the game lies. This is actually the first forum I have bothered to get involved with , mainly for that reason..

Back to the topic at hand...

I should have some new items to add to the catalogue within the next few days. Just the basic material so far. The more complicated works will have to wait until I've had a chance to work over them again.
