Hello all,

I'm a novice artist and upon seeing your project here, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity for me to hone my skills.

To that end I have claimed the Slaad entries for the PlaneScape setting project.

I am pretty familiar with DnD and play it quit frequently, although I am only a novice when it comes to the planes and more spicifically the planescape setting. As it currently stands the current slaad types I'm aware of are: Blue, Red, Green, Grey, and Death. If there are any more to add to this list please tell me, and give a short discription for me to work off of.

Thanks for all the help, and I am excited to be a part of this project!

Those are all the original slaad. The Fiend Folio introduced the mud slaad and the EPIC Level Handbook gave us the black and white slaad. Those three are all new to 3e, though.

Black slaad: like regular slaadi, but made of utter darkness like shadows or holes in the world; their eyes shine like stars. Huge in size.

White slaad: A slaad, but white. Large in size (likely about the same size as a blue slaad).

Mud slaad: A small, brown slaad. Medium-sized.

Gormeel: Dragon #306. Like lizards with the bodies of scaly apes. About the size of a red slaad, I think.

Neraph: Planar Handbook. Civilized cousins of the slaadi, these creatures are humanoid and human-sized with slaadi heads.

ok, thanks for the heads up. I have some rough sketches for the red, green and blue slaad that I'll probably post up soon. I'll get to work on the remaining colors in the mean time.

They are ALL great! BUT the Red Slaad looks a little like the Green Slaad. I understand when they are colored they will look totally different, but maybe a bigger difference in their stances?

damn, great drawings, good start. I agree with OpheliaWishpers that they need a little bit more diversity, i would love to see some more detailed ones. And be carefull you don't make them to fiendish, 3rd edition treated them like toad-like demons while their just as evil as they are good. But really great work!

Thanks for the suggestions, like I said these are just roughs so nothing is final. I'll try and work in some of the comments and we'll see what we get...heh

For roughs these are excellent. If you wanted to finish these off id love to see them in the PSCS somehow.

Check the PS Monster Compendium....I'm not sure which apprendix, but Slaad are supposed to have symbols on their heads (no two the same) that turn a different color the closer they get to turning into a different type of Slaad....I always liked that, but 3rd ed took it out Sad
