Sigil Cant and mimir.net

Is it still possible to make additions to the list of Sigil Cant words on mimir.net? Or is there another place where one can do so?

Well, there are "new" entries, so I would think so. You'd probably have to contact the author to have them included though.

Probably not Sigilian cant, but "Sig" should be a universal derogatory term for a Sigilian (the stereotype being the arrogant types who "talk like idiots", force their faction views down everyone's throats, refer to every metropolis as a "Burg" and less/unimportant in the grand scheme of things, and think that they alone understand how the multiverse works.)

I'm pretty sure the Mimir doesn't update anymore. If you have a list of new cant terms, I'd submit it as an article here.

Just one:

Pacter: Slang term for someone who has deliberately sold their soul to a fiend, generally in exchange for power, knowledge, revenge against an enemy, or the like. Not used for those who get tricked into bartering away their souls, but for the most thoroughly evil berks who go out of their way to make a pact with a fiend.

In the comic book Empowered by Adam Warren (volume 6), they call people who get their superpowers from pacts "bargainers" or, derisively, "bargain babies."

Don't forget the one from my D&D fetish glossary: Garnish Whore (originally referred to someone with a fetish for demanding bribes, but has lost its meaning on the streets of Sigil, where it is now a simple pejorative for someone known for demanding bribes)

God-work: Clerics do this a lot. Paladins and other 'holy persons' do this fairly often as well. Can refer to a specific mission that a Power directs a cleric/paladin/whatever to do, a task from the cleric's temple/church that the organization believes to be important to the deity, or simply to a task that the cleric personally believes to be strongly in tune with that deity's goals.

God-ridden: Direct translation of a term found in several humanoid languages. It can refer to any cleric or shaman, but is most often used to describe one who is being used particularly hard by his deity/fiend-lord/whatever. Can also be used to describe anyone who is believed to be the recipient of a deity's personal attention: someone with the power of prophecy, who speaks in tongues, and so on. May also refer (technically incorrectly) to someone who is possessed by a fiend.

Black-heart: Slang term for a tiefling who completely revels in the evil aspect of his nature. (The term comes straight from here: http://www.reocities.com/Area51/Vault/9974/tiefstuf.htm)

Thin-blood or thin-blooded: An insult from one tiefling to another. Usually the one doing the insulting is evil (as the rare good-aligned tieflings are not usually proud of their Lower Planar ancestry).

Re: Sigil Cant and mimir.net

Para-Glue: A Sigilian slang-term for coldflow (aka pureflow, aka coldfire from the Frostburn supplement). It's short for "paraelemental glue", and refers to the fact that the substance can be used like a long-setting glue (generally 45 minutes to 2 hours) on elementals and Ice-indigenous biological creatures to reattach severed body parts.
Because the indigenous inhabitants of Paraelemental Ice view coldflow as sacred, this word is considered a blasphemous insult (though nowhere near as serious as using the term "coldfire". That would be blasphemy on the level of... well, visual full-frontal pornography involving a 3-way between Lathander, Shar, and Bane *remember that Bane is associated with the "black sun".* Or as another example, pornography involving Mithra and Graz'zt or Levistus *even worse if it involves all three* Yeah, we're talking serious blasphemy, here.

NON-SIGILIAN CANT TERMS RELATING TO SIGIL
--Rust-Clod: Derogatory term used by natives of the Elemental Air-aligned planes for Sigil. "Solid Rust Clod" is a slightly stronger derogatory term (solid and liquid matter is viewed with contempt by Air natives, esp. solid matter, as it lacks mallaeability.)
--Sig: Universal derogatory term for a Sigilian (the stereotype being the arrogant types who "talk like idiots", force their faction views down everyone's throats, refer to every metropolis as a "Burg" and less/unimportant in the grand scheme of things, and think that they alone understand how the multiverse works.)
--Sig Smoker: Literal translation for a derogatory, profane term for "a Sigilian who talks a lot of s***". *smoker in Glacian refers to someone who talks BS, or to an inanimate object or idea that is nonsensical*
--Smoldering Rust Slag: Derogatory term used by Paraelemental Ice natives to refer to Sigil. "Smoldering" is a moderate profanity in Glacian, and "Slag" is an obscene and derogatory term for anything associated with magma or metal (magma and metal in and of themselves are obscene and blasphemous to Ice natives, hence why "slag" is a profanity.)
