Question: Inevitables

Lady's Grace!

I come here with yet another question. This time it's about the Inevitables.

Imagine a city that's partly under the control of a Modron ruler (as well as another non-Modron). Would it then be possible for an Inevitable to be a part of the burg's Militia? Given that the said Inevitable has been issued as an authority figure for that burg.

I'm trying to put together a town that's ruled by both a Modron as well as something else. I just can't come up with a suitable authority figure at the moment, hence the Inevitable came into play (As well as a few others which I haven't worked out yet).

I don't see why not. Inevitables and modrons seem to get along.

That's true.

But I've always imagined them being a part of "the bigger picture", not keeping themselves occupied with such "small" tasks, if you know what I mean.

Question: Inevitables

Modron ruler?

What caste? Or is it rogue?

Depends on the inevitable's caste, and on the nature of the town. The town might have something very important about it (and probably does, if Primus feels the need to assign a modron to it).

Question: Inevitables

Hi!

The first ruler was a Quadrone (Centium-I, rogue Modron).

Now after several centuries a new Modron has been put on the pedestal as "ruler" (Read: their duties mostly exist out of giving advice concerning critical changes around the burg).

Quote:
The Hoi Polloi: The law states that "Halfway is always to be ruled by a pair. One member of the said pair should always be of the Modron race. Each year the non-Modron ruler shall be chosen by the means of an election, while the new Modron ruler is appointed by its predecessor. These were, and still are, two of the founding laws of the burg. The current rulers of “Halfway” are a Tiefling called Eloria Magdrannak and a Quadrone named Quentin IV.

That's how the system in the burg works. Now, the first Modron to ever rule "Halfway" was a Quadrone who went rogue and accompanied an adventurer during his planewalking days.

It's known that rogue Modrons still adhere to many ways of order. Seeing as the Modron ruler is the constant presence of order in the town, it could be feasible for Primus to want to keep this, thus s/he sends a Modron (non-rogue) over there each year.

Here's a small snipped of the burg's theme, just to show the importance of it.

Quote:
What happens to a cutter when she goes through a door that goes shifty, you ask? Or when the gate leads to a non-existing place? Well let me be the one to fill you in, cutter. All those sods end up in the same place. You guessed where already? Well, aren’t you a canny bugger. Aye that’s right, they end up in “Halfway”!

I'm having an inner argument about the Inevitable though. Wouldn't such a critter give the burg a sci-fi feeling? I keep thinking "Star Wars" when I give it some more thought.

Also I'm not too familiar about their castes; the one I was considering was a Kolyarut. When a person arrives in the burg they have to visit the register and agree to certain laws, otherwise they can't reside there for longer than an hour. Thus if they break these laws they fall under the Kolyarut's jurisdiction. And there's also the fact that they're more sociable than others, which makes them even more suitable for the task.
