Art claims and status on page one are now updated as of 05/20.
PSCS3 Artwork Thread: Needs and Desires
Actually, I lay claim to all items and equipment, they're easy to do. I would also like to do some that are not on the list.
I've already done some work, but I still need to splash some colour onto it. Expect the items within a week or two, and possibly a prestige class or three.
I'll need some help, though. Some items are poorly described, and I'm in two minds for some as to how they actually look - for example, Kooth. What's this 45 degree angle thingy? Are the blades on opposite ends of the shaft, or next to each other at one end?
And the ethereal cruiser...it can't look like "a normal ship with two additional masts stuck on the lower hull", that's silly. It would be more streamlined with a fitting design, since it's not a sea ship that's been customized for the Ethereal plane - it's more than likely been designed with the ethereal alone in mind. Suggestions?
Got the Evil Spellcasting inked. I'll be coloring it, should be done by this weekend. I'll start sketching out other spells and possibly feats/skills once I get done with this. It'll be another Big Page thing, but I'll draw the rest of the spells so that they can be inserted however you need.

@domi - I've updated the list with your claims.
Re the etheral ship - I'll check the description, but you're right it should be more adapted to the setting and really more surrealist in appearance. My own PC actually has one of those and his ship is a conglomeration of shells from various creatures of the plane of water, including a conch and a sea urchin - it looks like something between a classic illithid ship and a shadow ship from Babylon 5. I'll check the description in the text and revise it to fit if needed.
Re the Kooth - I have no idea - I'll reread the text when I get home tonight after game and take a look at it.
@Center - That sounds good I look forward to seeing it, don't forget to email them to me once you've got them done
Oh, right, that reminds me. Can you read Adobe Illustrator files? If not, do you have a preferred file format? PDF? PSD? JPG?

I can read Illustrator, I also take Photoshop, PNG, or JPG. Your choice
Some preliminary work, just to showcase the style I'm going for: http://domigorgon.blogspot.com/2009/05/planescape-iii.html
They can also be used, if you want them, but I've done more mimirs for items specifically, and the monk might fall into one of the monkish prestige classes, I guess (Hand of Justice, perhaps?), but I didn't have anything specific in mind here.
Hey Domigorgon, I see that you're from the same country as me & Squaff. It's too cool to see five(at least) Croats on the forums and even cooler to see someone to start playing Planescape years after they've stopped being published.
@Cluless: Did you see the mail I've sent you? I'm just a bit concernd about the question concerning resolution from it. I think I've sent it from a new email so there might be some confusion.
Anyway concerning new art, Squaff is just finishing his next factioneer and I'm going to shine with this one since we're using an older Modron picture to create a Fraternity of Order factioneer. I have to change some colors, add a wig to him and few other details. I'm so happy to make a Photoshop dress up doll from a Modron.
I think that the next planewalker in line is going too be a Sensate. There are some sketches from before but I gave Squaff a few new ideas to work with and added extra depth to her.
We just found out that there is only one female factioneer by now, and there are more of sexless and adrogynous ones than females. I've got a modron, a Warforged and a Draconian and only one female and she's a buffed up Fated survivalist (more manly than other guys drawn by now). Anyway, we'll try to bring in more female factioneers and we also have to think up more sexless or multi-sexual weirdos for newer concepts.
Here's the Evil Spellcasting; will be polishing it off tonight after work and then I'll email it and the good spellcasting. Later this week I shall be getting started on other spells and so forth.
Here's the circle he's standing on if anyone wants to see the whole thing. 13-pointed star included: http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i238/kaitou-kage/seb-circle-3.jpg

LOL, I never noticed you were from Croatia! Indeed it is amazing to see such a blossoming Planescape population in the vicinity! More to the point, I'm from Vukovar (studying in Osijek), where are you from?
And not to be too off-topic: any suggestions for those items, then? Kooth?
I'm from Zagreb (still)studying in Zagreb , I've been to Vukovar this summer on an archeological excavation on Vucedol as a part of my study(Archeology). I haven't been drawing for the last 6-7 years(since I was your age) but I use Photoshop and correct & edit other peoples art.
I'm getting into photography and I hope to do some collage soon so my drawing skills won't go to waste.
Anywhoo I like your art, I see that your qick with your pen and I see that you're also a fan od dr.Who (Squaff is an uberfan, while I'm a moderate fan).
I'm a little bit concerned about colours and monitors. I've been comparing the colours and contrast I see in my laptop's monitor (my main computer and the one I draw in) and in my LCD monitor of my old computer. In the old LCD monitor, the drawing of the Doomguard for example is very purple and light, when my intention was a bluish and darker drawing. I've change the drawing in the old LCD to fit visually the way I see it in the laptop. I don't know if it's well calibrated my old LCD, but the difference is quite significant, in contrasts and in some colours.
The one I see fine in my laptop:
The one I've changed in my old LCD to see it with the more or less the way I'd like:
I was reading stuff about monitor profiles that can be used to store the color, gamma etc. variations in the file metadata, but to make those profiles I think I need testing cards (material cards, not virtual). Or maybe what I need is to throw away my almost smashed laptop... Help?
This is just a note to update everyone. I am almost done with A Very Large Dragon (Chronepsis). Sorry to start late, but I was waiting until the list was updated before starting. However, it also took me FOREVER to do the dragon (wait til you see it).
I will have my picture completed shortly. My new due date for the other pieces is June 30 since i have a bunch of commissions due at the moment, but I can assure you they'll be done.
I got done with Chronepsis a little faster than I thought. Here is a preview.
Now, you can see the image in larger size here: http://pegacorna2.deviantart.com/art/Chronepsis-the-Dragon-God-124499884
Who do I send the fullres file to? Also, if you want, I might be able to color this in photoshop, just let me know (but he's black, so there won't be a lot in the way of coloring, it would essentially just be the hourglasses. Now to work on my other ones.
Are there any other Deviant artists on here that I am not watching? I am pegacorna2 and I want to make sure I am watching all the Planescape artists. I am just a big dork and I want to see all the planescape art. Anyway, let me know if you are on Deviant Art and I will put you on my watch list (I know for a fact I have the following people:
I don't know who else I might already be watching, but I will be after this if you send me your link. Many thanks!
Mine is bastlynn - I'm working on setting up a deviantArt ID field in the profiles for accounts right now too
Yea, that would be very cool, especially if you want us to help each other out too. I think this is a lot of fun
@pegacorna: I think you should try to add a little bit of colour to the drawing, maybe in a similar way as the planescape basic books.
For the Feat Functional Wings. Large Size: http://pegacorna2.deviantart.com/art/Planescape-Functional-Wings-125304567 Modron are yay!
I will loose most of the detail on Chronepsis if I color it. That is why I haven't done so.
oh, and so far my attempts in photoshop look tacky. The original chronepsis was in B&W in my book though, I think.
Want me to try? (I always ask permission first ) If I can make it look not tacky I'llbe glad to share how
That would be a huge relief. I sent you the file and you're welcome to modify it.
Here are some items, then. Hope you like.
You might notice that I went for the ethereal cruiser design as described after all, as I was sketching it I came to actually like it. As for the clock, it's sort of a mechanus gear with a clock mechanism inserted (gear spirit-powered?); only later did I notice that the description in the manual makes it a normal clock that's been crafted in the upper planes, and the name on the to-do-list derailed me (even so, I prefer it this way - surely a clock from mechanus would keep time much much better than one from Mount Celestia!). And finally, some mimirs - in the normal shape of a skull, and two more - a cube (Lament Configuration, hahah), and a conch shell (you put it to your ear and it whispers knowledge).
Erm... sorry, but what email address do I send this to? I'm sure it's says somewhere, but I can't for the life of me see it.
And here's two birds with one stone - bariaur armor and helmet (which is, for some reason, horned).
Hello! Yes, I'm new. Well, not totally new. I've posted here once before a long time ago, saying that I would love to help make the artwork for the PSCS. Too bad I was a lazy teenager with a short attention span back then. I never made a single illustration for you and neglected the forums. But I changed. The new me really wants to help keeping the greatest campaign setting ever alive! I even made my first attempt at a Planescapey piece! I tried to visualise the Ditch, complete with some wererats and all: And here's the same, but with a blue filter: http://bleaknik.deviantart.com/ They're not finished yet, but please tell me if you dig it so far! Sorry for possible crappy English.
Great art Bleaknik. I would suggest that you ditch the blue filter, the picture looks too dark with it and the graininess from the first picture that is lost with the filter made it look more real.
I recoloured the Doomguard Sinker Swordmaster... Hope you like it...
http://inkoia.deviantart.com/art/Doomguard-Sinker-Swordmaster-119490790
Also started to remake the Athar Infidel Crusader, and to extend the Bleaknink drawing. Here is the progress:
Athar (I'm making different experiments with the amulets and the tainted touch effect...) http://inkoia.deviantart.com/art/Athar-Infidel-Crusader-Profan-125605102

I AM STILL ALIVE!
Sorry for my silence on this front lately. I've been pushing like a madman to get my comic prologue finished. The bad news was that it was the ONLY thing art-wise that I've worked on the past month or so. The good news is it's almost done and now I can devote time to other projects again. Rest assured that this one is very high on my priority list and I plan to jump into the spellcasting chapter with much gusto! Once I get back from Otakon in about 2 weeks, I will come at this project full-force.
So please keep my spot warm :) And keep an eye out for my official announcement of site launch.

It is my intent to do something for .. something .. for this, but I just must figure out what, and then find the time to do it. I'm kind of hoping that making a post saying "OH YEAH THIS IS DESIRABLE FOR ME" will actually encourage me to remember I want to do it, because I had this same thought like 3 months ago and then completely forgot!
I have some random pictures I've done in the past though, that, if you can find a use for them you are 100% welcome to (just let me know you are! In this thread is fine, I'm intending to remember to check back.) They more 'obviously planescapey' stuff are portraits and not scenes, alas:

* A (Salamander-descended) Fire Genasi: http://eroding.net/junks/arundhati_3_cols.jpg

General I-isms http://aetherchild.deviantart.com for, ahh, I don't know. Unnecessary for screening purposes after posting the above, but whatever I'm including it anyway.
@Anetra Nice art, I specially like Aria.
I've finished the revisited proposition for Bleaker Bleaknik prestige class, a tiefling painting himself and driking in the hive. The background is big, but could be reduced to the character's size.

Hey - I just realized that I missed this post as I was skimming through others - the email to send to would be: [REDACTED]
And these are GEORGOUS pieces - like jaw-droppingly beautiful. Perfect for what we're looking for. I'm hoping you're still with us after my very very tardy reply
Welcome back Bleaknik! Hopefully with everyone pitching in we'll be able to get this whole thing wrapped up in one last push
I'm with Duster on the blue filter - I think it darkened it a bit much. What really stands out to me is the sky - it's very flat with no texture whereas the rest of the piece has the grainyness of pencil on paper. So it stands out as something intserted in post-scan. What you may want to do is experiement with ways to match the textures of the sky to the rest of the piece. I think that will help it merge better with the rest.
The only other thing I would note is that with that heavy dark sky, and some of the other coloration, it seems as if the Ditch itself (i assume that's the Ditch?) is under bright light, and the background under dark. I think that's the effect you were trying to fix with the blue filter. What you may want to do is deepen the shadows in the Ditch so that the depth of shadows in both areas match. That make sense? If you apply the blue filter in Just the background / far end of the Ditch that may also give that feeling of depth and shadowy background you were looking for.
Otherwise - looks like a good start! Welcome back

*Glee* I've been retweeting your posts, hopefully that's getting you some extra traffic.
And remind me to rely to you re: the PM thing you sent me awhile back - I think I may need to take you up on that offer

Oh *wow* - yes, please - join the party! Let me know what you've got in mind to work on next! Aria's good - but that assimar is drop dead georgous! A lot of these pieces can be fairly loose and oganiz sketchwork, so please - feel free to snag somethign and have at it!
I'll have to add you to my watch list on Deviant!

I really like where you went with this one - the control you have over your poses and the added benefit of telling a story within the image are really kudo bonus points here I'm going to have to make sure that this one gets a good spot on the page given the detail in it
To all - please remember if you can to send me your pieces in email ([REDACTED]) - I can snag them fromt he thread too if needed, but email makes sure I have the version of the work that you really really want me to use, and not a lower res one or watermarked one.
Also - if I don't yet have it from you, I need the following:
Your Name - or at least the name you want to be listed under for Credits!
And your Website or other home-on-the-web - so I can send people to the right artist for more!
How's everyone's summer going so far?
@Clueless: Thank you for the retweets! I really, really appreciate it. I've been getting between 50 and 100 hits per day since launch. It's amazing how useful Twitter is for advertising.
@Bleaknik: WOW, I adore your architecture style. The jaunty angles and the crooked buildings look just great. Very Nightmare Before Christmas/Soul Eater cool. I agree with everyone about the blue filter. Keep it off ;-) I will probably reference your drawings later as inspiration for my own forays into Sigil-related art.
@Thread: I'm back from Otakon and finally settling down again so I'll be working on this. While I was at the con I got some great flashes of inspiration for a few spell pictures (For example, Baatezu Bane will show a marilith blasting the crap out of something, probably a gelugon). I'll get started on the sketches tonight and try to produce at least a sketch every couple of days in between comic pages. The past month or so has been ridiculously busy but things are settling down somewhat. Just in time for Grad School Semester 4 to set in >_<
Anyway, keep an eye out, and keep an eye on the comic, too

Thanks, Clueless @_@ That was bizarre.
Here's my Baatezu Bane sketch.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i238/kaitou-kage/baatezu-bane.jpg
It's kind of rough and sloppy, especially the gelugon. I've never made a habit of drawing bug-people before, so he is kind of crap. I'm debating whether I should actually give him a solid effort when I clean this up or substitute in an easier baatezu.
Whatever the case, the idea is out on paper now, so it should be pretty easy for me to resketch and finalize.

It's going fine, it's nice to live next to the sea =D.
Right now I've just come from a Lan Party (Euskal Encounter 17, one of the biggest in Spain) in which I submited the bleaknik for the gfx2d contest (I already knew that I wouldn't get any prize, but I like to take part in contests, ;P).
And now just getting ready for a 3Km swimming race which is on friday. I'll try to use a "summon flipper" spell,¬_¬¡
Cheers, Clueless. I'm still with you, fear knot. Feat nor?
It's just my schedule has been a bit hectic lately.
Oh, say, when I send you these things, I think I'll send them as JPG, 'cause what I've done so far is like 90 MB in raw PSD files (without layers, even). That OK? I mean, if you want PSD, no problem, but I think the quality loss wouldn't be that significant.
Not actually art for the PSCS, but still relevant: I did some quick marilith and gelugon studies to get a better feel for how to draw them.

@maatsgarden and domigorgon : I have those panoramic specs for you now, 3 varients, 2 tall, one short and wide as follows:
1) 4 inches wide, by 10 inches tall. Intended to fill a half page on the left or right. (see White Wolf books for this size)
2) 3 inches wide, by 10 inches tall. Intended to be a little short of half a page to allow tables to have room.
3) 7 inches wide, by 4 inches tall. Intended to be a third of a page, at the top or the bottom of a page.
Please let me know if you two are still ready to go on the landscapes - it's such a hard topic to get artists for because they're so challenging, that I'd really love to see the ones we need get knocked out quickly while I've still got you two
Hello and happy holidays to everyone!
Well I haven't gone anywhere yet, I have 14 exams and I broke my foot dancing. But I might go to the coast after I'm done with my trouble.
Anyway I come with some new stuff, 2 new pictures, two old edited ones. The new modron one is actually an older picture of a modron from Modron Art thread made also by Squaff but I've fiddled with it and I'm quite satisfied with the result.
Anyways to continue with factioneers:
Freaternity of Order Factioneer
O'Nomos (The Law) is one of the older residing judges from the Courthouse, recently retired. The law he is currently trying to figure out is how come there are any rogue modrons in the multiverse as he's pondering his existence: "How can a Modron as a pure being of law be separated from his purpose he was designed for by the Law of Multiverse."
Believers of The Source Factioneer
Qiignawg is actually a prime dwarf who reincarnated as an elf after one of his mishaps at the core of a volcano which was a vortex or sumsuch. He changed his life views with his newfound chaotic nature, but kept his mining fervor as he's mining far reaches of multiverse. He's mining for his soul.
Ring-Givers Factioneer
Ts'colo Fawl is an ancient thiefling with some goblin blood in his gut and he is one of the most devious loan sharks to prowl the Hive & Lower Ward. His luck has grown since the new tax laws in Sigil have been set. Since there aren't any Fated left, it is not only his job to take back what he's given(with interests), but his way of life.
This is an older picture and I've added a faction symbol to the top of his hat(it's also drawn by Squaff).
Athar Factioneers
Bern, Goghar (God Dog, his artist name) and Edmundy (goblin beatbox) are the musical bard crew from the Lower Ward. Bern is a drummer & has a really deep voice for his mocking rhymes. Goghar is the songwriter and has a highpitched smirky voice and he really hated Harmonium officers and was even rumored to have killed some with his silverplated hand crossbow (a lie, as he explained to jury that it was there only for publicity). Edmundy is here only for booze & women. This unique crew is currently trying to minimize the number of temples and churches by giving them bad publicity with their clever rhymes.
Also an older picture but I've added Athar symbols to their loincloths. This way they look even more "bling bling" since Squff drawn the symbol with a metallic quality and I've adjusted the color for each brother(they aren't real brothers).
Well enjoy the pictures and tell me what you think, I'll try to get Squaff to visit the forum.
11 factioneers done, 9 more to go. Next in line is a Sensate, unfortunately for Cluelesses addiction to bishi men, this one is a girl Vistani. WE figured out that the most of the factioneer's that were done are male and we need more females & sexless species.
PS. I have a question for an idea for a good chapter ending:
Since you're covering all the Factions and there was a Clueless at the ending for the old Planscape Players Booklet. I was wondering if we could insert Clueless entry for the Factioneers?
PSS: These dice rolls are really getting on my nerves, because they show how much times I've edited my post.
Epp! Thank you for finding that bug
Baatezu Bane, take 2
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i238/kaitou-kage/baatezu-bane-1.jpg
I'm more or less content with the marilith, though she'll have weapons soon. Gelugons, however, are hard to draw! I may resketch him and photoshop him in so he looks better.

maatsgarden is all in favor of the coherent consistent sizes for the Chapter 8 landscapes - so panoramic ratio it is. I'm going to work on testing some image blocks out in the layout to make sure they will fit correctly in the layout and get hard numbers for your sizes to you. But tentatively I'm looking at left-right panoramas at 8.5in (give or take) by 3 or 4in. And up-down panoramas at 3in by 11in (give or take). I'll solidify those numbers for you and update the spec request on the first page once I get a chance to poke my layout file and see what will work best.
