just wondewring, what bonuses does a person get by becoming a proxy? Is there a class for it somewhere?

Officially, Complete Divine and the SRD say this:

Proxies: A divine proxy speaks and acts on behalf of the divine being. When the demand for a deity’s presence is too high, the deity may use proxies.
Proxies are divine minions invested with a small portion of the deity’s power. A deity may invest 1 rank of its power (reducing its divine rank accordingly) in a single servant for as long as the deity chooses. The minion must be physically present for the deity to perform the investiture. While so invested, the proxy gains any salient divine abilities held by the patron deity as well as the powers and abilities of a rank 1 demigod. Without the requisite ability scores or divine ranks, the proxy may not be able to use all those powers and abilities. A deity may have more than one proxy, but it must lose 1 divine rank for each proxy it invests. A deity can retrieve a single divine rank as a standard action, and doing so it does not require the physical presence of the proxy.

Personally, I find this a bit bland, particularly the strict mechanics suggesting how a deity loses a bit of its power by investing it into a proxy... not that I use divine ranks anyway ...

Another way to simulate proxies would be the Divine Agent prestige class from the Manual of the Planes (or its FR counterpart, the Divine Disciple). Basically, just have the 10th-level "Transcendence" ability (or whatever it's called) make the character into a truly divine servant, giving it a Quasi-Deity status (divine rank 0).

Of course, if you're not interested in handling quasi-powers in your game - and I dion't think they would work well with others - this would be a fine retirement for a character...

There's also the Divine Emissary, from the Epic Level Handbook.

In 2e, there were no strict rules for what a proxy could or couldn't do. Each one was unique, fairly high level, with one or two special abilities, but usually not that extraordinary; their real power came from the fact that they were the voice of a god. Most 2e proxies weren't quasi-deities. All aasimon are proxies.

In many ways I see proxies as being a catagory not a type. So it is almost imposable to really stat them as a group. Individually you give them the powers that they should have. But as a group they would share the same range of powers that demons, devils, or celestials share.

How powerful is a celestial?
You can't answer that without knowing what kind of celestial you're talking about first.

Right. You've got primes, planars, powers, and proxies. Each group diverse to say the least.

But still, you have to come up with something for proxy stats, just the one-liners... in my Power write-ups, when I add a "Known Proxies:" line, I just note their basic race, class, alignment, and mention that they are DR 0 FWIW.
