Prime planewalkers references

Do other settings have famous planewalkers? Elminster obviously, but I ignore him.

Re: Prime planewalkers references

Im sure they do

I just cant think of any.

Well you could argue that Ravenloft has several since it has people who came from other planes of existence as major figures.

Well, for Greyhawk there's Keoghtom, Kelanen, Heward, Zagyg, Murlynd, Mordenkainen, Bigby, Yrag, Eli Tomorast, Gwydiesin of the Cranes, Philidor, Thesselar, Rowan Darkwood, Verden, Gord the Rogue, Gellor, Eclavdra Eilservs, Athux, Gravestone, Iggwilv, Erac's Cousin, and Nightsong.

In Mystara there's Etienne d'Ambreville, Barimoor, Suleiman Al-Kalim, Farid, Skarda, Jaggar von Drachenfels, and Farrow.

In Dragonlance there's Dalamar, Raistlin, Emilo Haversack, and Traban.

In Dark Sun there's Rajaat, Dregoth, and the githyanki false queen Trinth.

From Toril, we have Khelben "Blackstaff" Arunsun, Khelben the Younger, Joel the Rebel Bard, Laeral Silverhand, Vheod Runechild, Finder Wyvernspur, Aliisza, Arwyl Swan's Son, Hornung the Anarch, Nahal the Incorrigible, Gareth Dragonsbane, and Demascus.

Most of them could have a significant influence. I wonder why so many choose to return.

Re: Prime planewalkers references

These guys were already very famous in their own settings, or at least believe themselves to be. Then they planewalk their self-important selves into Sigil and suddenly they're nobodies again. No squealing fans, no autographs and everybody looks at you all weird like you've ended up in the wrong part of town. That's not very fun.

Another reason may be that a whole bunch of them planewalked (read: got kidnapped) themselves into a lot of trouble and ended up in a lower plane before their time. Eventually most of them escaped, but I doubt they made a lot of friends there. Not even pen pals.

Those that didn't leave did actually make quite a name for themselves.

It's also likely that anyone who tangles with the avatars of the powers in their homeworld realizes that going to the homeplane of that god or its allies is asking for an infinite layer of hurt.

Greyhawk's have the best details, is there more information about Rajaat's travels?

Re: Prime planewalkers references

Actually, Rajaat's planar travels might be limited to being banished to the Black. That might technically make him a planewalker, but it's not that impressive considering he didn't do it on purpose.

He had his subordinate Qwith research the Inner Planes for a while.

Does Ravenloft have any philosophical characters, from little I know about it Sigil could open a portal there.
