Potential Article: Canoodling The Lady of Pain

It's a common topic with endless speculation. Since planewalkers are sexier than average on the whole, I'd like to talk about seducing The Lady.

Pick-up lines, how to dress to impress her, possible conversation topics, and primordial sources of swagger -- anything based on the Planescape canon would be helpful. In addition, what cutters have tried to seduce her in the past but failed? Does macking on someone count as worship?

We don't have to get into the tricky territory that might be against the spirit of Planescape like the Lady's stats and/or measurements; but they're at least as good as 34-24-34.

All ideas and strange dreams will be heard with open ears.

In the Blood War Trilogy (was awesome, back off haters haha) the Cat Lord and Lady were lovers. It ended with his bones in a closet the size of a universe IIRC.

Lame. Firstly, why doesn't the Lady do anything besides use telekinesis? Does she even have telekinesis? She should have mazed him or at least made shadow puppets on his chest.

Second, that berk clearly has a poor charisma score. I'm sure someone with more personal magnetism than him wouldn't have such a tough time of it.

More details please. Not that those are canon anyway.

Wasn't there an entire plotline of the Harbringer House devoted to a guy who was in love with the Lady? There's a strong implication in the text of that adventure that anybody openly professing their love and devotion to the LoP is quickly discovered "flayed, quartered or otherwise put in the deadbook". That tells me that, in addition to ways of gaining her attention, there should be included ways of ensuring that you survive any dalliances you may have with Her Serenity.

I hear tell that you can let the LoP know of your intentions by leaving small effigies of her scattered around the city. Burning incense and reciting your devotions to her also have an impact on how well you'd be recieved by her. ^_^

What kind of pick-up line would you use?
"Hey baby, do you flay people alive here often?"
"Hey baby, if I said you had a body covered with razor-sharp blades, would you hold it against me?"

Oh, those were the Bloodwar trilogy books put out by TSR. They were terribly in terms of canon, but I personally loved them as an "Elseworlds" version of Planescape.

Harbinger House does feature a whole cult involving worship of the Lady. I don't remember exactly how it worked though.

Yes.

Trolan, the leader of the cult worshipping her, was never killed even though his followers were. There was some speculation that it had to do with his divinity spark, but no one was sure. Or it might have just been his insane charisma.

Or the fact he was protected from the Lady while in Harbinger House and then voluntarily left as soon as the protection was destroyed and he acceded, if the players were successful. If not, he gets nuked too IIRC.

Re: Potential Article: Canoodling The Lady of Pain

This could be a humorous article, though obviously as Planewalkers we're not going to demand anyone fit into the measurements based on parochial Prime world standards of beauty. The Anarchist in me cannot abide by such consumerist notions!

Heh, we'd also have to play fair and bring up the ideal male measurements as well, and I see us then just entering territory best left to the Book of Erotic fantasy. ;-P

eta: We may want to expand this to a "Dating in Sigil" piece. I actually did wonder about this before, when I was trying to pin down a couple different things about Sociology in the City of Doors.

Note we're still sorta under the "Grandparent Clause" so we're not going to get into the sex lives of planars or anything.

Dating in Sigil I could see as a great article or series of articles. I remember that there was once an article on LGBT in the City of Doors, which while not my cup of tea, was extremely well written.

Heh, I'm having a tough time imagining articles.

Truth be told, if I'm writing even dating might be folded into a larger "Nightlife in Sigil" article. But if someone else can put up some words we can definitely consider putting a whole dating article into an issue.

I do think some humorous pick up lines towards the Lady of Pain might be worked in, though again we do have to uphold the family gaming ideal.
