We have the option to set up email forwards in our sysem. So things like [REDACTED] would forward to the email address you have set for your account.
The question is - would anyone be interested in that?

Hey dont get me wrong, if you can set it up for me thats rockin. But just if the email account is still crying in a corner somewhere with half a million spam emails kicking it in the teeth, then just leave it there to its fate.

Another thing i'm likely to do is set this option up as a benifit only for those who have managed to actually stick around and make a minimum number of posts. One post lurkers or those who've come and gone probably don't need a forward or a nifty email address like this - and in some cases wouldn't even care.

Hm. Maybe.
I hardly dare open my orroloth planewalker mail, because of all the spam. It's had almost ten years of unrestricted posting on the internet, after all.
If I could a) delete all the old mail in one fell swoop, and b) have some sort of really harsh spam filter, I'd definitely be interested.

I can a) delete all of the old, and b) I've enabled spam assassin on our setups.
Think of an email forward as an alias - an email forward will just bounce emails sent to [REDACTED] to another email address... I just got an answer back from our server about spam assassin and email forwarding (which is what I'm thinking of doing here), and they have it set up so spam assassin runs first, allowing us to mark and drop bad spams.
Once it hits your actual email address then whatever filters your ISP, or you yourself have will also kick in - so it's filtered twice.

Two glasses with that, im drinking with Orri. Yeah, just bounce it to the yahoo account that ill put into my user profile (or I can PM you with it when all of this is set up). Alias? Erm...Barking/Barking Wilder/Barkin or some combination thereof. But again we can sort all that later.

What I'm going to do once I get some technical details cleared up is create an option in everyone's profile where they can set it up to start forwarding from to the email that they have set in their profile. So keep an eye on this thread so you'll be ready to get it set up. I'll post as soon as the code is ready and tested.
Ive given up all hope on my old PW email account :s
But in principle the idea is a good one, as long as we dont get all the junkmail through which I was told mauled it to death. No idea how all the junk got through to that address :S Never gave it out anywhere lol
