Planescape:the musical, Not quite dead yet

The basic outline is fairly simple, everyone has bard levels and randomly breaking out into song and dance is encouraged. The goal here is to simply have fun and give the bard class some much needed attention. I have also come up with 2 feats that would be fitting for this type of game. If people don't want another freeform game I'd be willing to DM.

THEME SONG[GENERAL]
Prerequisites:Cha 13.
Benefit:Whenever a sufficiently dramatic situation occurs(determine by a DM) a song chosen at the time you take this feat will play from either thin air or be played by something nearby(making it look like a coincidence), this song grants the effects of a 1st level bard's inspire courage song.

MUSICAL[GENERAL]
Prerequisites:CHA 15, theme song,bard level 4.
Benefit:As a full-round action you can make everyone within 50 feet make a will save(DC=your perform check) or begin to dance and sing along with you as if in a musical. This feat acts as the bard's fascinate song except as noted above.

The second one is a bit messy, suggestions on how to improve the feats are welcome. If this is to become a full fledged game it would start at level 5 and all non-core material would need to be checked, planewalker material is allowed.

Well, in my opinion, the second feat Musical shouldn't actually interfere with what people are doing, just.... force them to do their actions in song and dance.

Can you imagine fifteen spinagons shooting off flaming darts like a firework finali while the luscious Erynies finishes off her solo "Grand Seduction"!

Swashbucklers would be singing and swordfighting as they swing from rope to rope to rescue the fair Soprano maiden.

Now then... we need feats for... Dance (Tap!), Quartets (think of the Fiendish possibilities), Add Libs (smart aleck remarks), Spot Light (the spell Darkness goes off, and only the caster can be seen, dressed as a clown and singing to boot)

Though I think the rogue should be able to use some of these feats as well. After all, what else do they use the perform class skill for?

And I will start making a new character for this campaign, PLANESCAPE THE MUSICAL!

I, of course, have a modron bard idea...

Well, actually I have two: Beat Box and Boom Box.

Do we get to pick the songs? Do they have to be songs that other people have heard of, or can we simply give references when we nominate a song? I have eclectic tastes, you see.

Seconded.

I am gonna have to try SO hard to not join this and devour my small remaining freetime into it.

Hurrah, my idea is a success! I agree about having the Musical feat just having people sing and dance while taking their actions, note that this would make it a purely thematic feat albeit one too awesome not to take. As for the songs you use, it would probably be best to provide lyrics if the song has them and try to describe how the music sounds, other than that I see no reason to restrict yourself in terms of what music you have your characters use. I also like Fringe's feat ideas quite a bit, if someone can come up with a good write-up for them then I'd gladly have them as feats in this game.

PS: The Musical! LOL! Okay, here's my 2 greens...

SOLILOQUY [GENERAL]
Prerequisites: CHA 13, Theme Song
Benefit: You can suspend time and freeze the actions of all beings within a 50 ft. radius. Time remains suspended for the duration of the oration or song, but resumes as if no interruption had taken place once the Soliloquy ends. During the Soliloquy, you may attempt to influence the thoughts and feelings of a single being within range. That individual must make a Will save vs. your Perform check or be affected as if by the Suggestion spell.

For the duration of the Soliloquy, your personal Theme Song will be heard as if from a distance and all lights within range will dim to half their normal brightness.

DOUBLE ENTENDRE [GENERAL]
Prerequisites: INT 13, CHA 13
Benefit: With your razor-sharp wit and extensive vocabulary, you can garner popular favour at the expense of a target of your choosing. Your target must make a Will save vs. your Perform check. If you succeed, you will gain a +1 Circumstance bonus on all interractions with witnesses to the exchange for 24 hours, while your target suffers a -1 Circumstance penalty.

Wow, this sounds like the most flat out hilarious idea for a game I have ever heard.
I'd like to join in, if there is still room.

Certainly any villainous types who find their way here will need something as well.

THE EVIL PLAN[VILLAINOUS SONG]
Prerequisites:CHA 16, THEME SONG, MUSICAL, Evil alignment, Perform (Song or Oratory) 7 ranks, and at least one goody goody enemy.
Benefit: You can, as a full-round action you can make any evil aligned character, monster, construct, within a 50 foot radius per level in Bard make a Will save (DC=Perform check + whatever profane bonus you get) even if they are not normally immune to mental compulsions of some sort (like oozes) and should they fail they will sing along, plot along, and dance along as if in a musical. This feat acts as an inspire villainy (evil version of heroics) for the singing Villain, and an inspire courage for whatever minions are about.

This feat, is only for the truly great villains out there.

Preferably Asmodeus but of course he's probably unavailable. So we'll make do with whatever comes our way.

I suppose this will be a normal campaign then, I count about 5 so people who want to join so far, I guess we might have room for one more person. And it seems I shall be DMing.

you said bard levels, can we multiclass as long as we have most of our levels in Bard?
Also, what level we starting at? Level 1? Just wondering...

As for multiclassing, it's ok as long as most of your levels are in bard or a bard prestige class. It also seems we have 7 players, any more and this game would get rather congested so I'm afraid no one else can join. As for you 7 who would like to join just PM me your character sheets.

And I can't believe I forgot this, you can choose between 4D6 drop the lowest rolling or pointbuy(30).

Just curious. For my bard, can my musical instrument be pipes of sounding? ( the ones that allow you to cast ghost sound whenever you play. Could be intresting to have a phantom door slamming as the percusion of the music)

I only ask because the pipes are a musical intrument. I think that they can be, but my old dm says no because its not on the very short list of instruments they specificaly name in the players handbook.

how much would a normal set of dark-tinted googles cost? For a small character? (If i don't get a reply to this, ill assume they're just 15gp. The point of the goggles is to nullify my light-sensitivity. if I cant do this, please say so)

Also, anyone know any good draconic names?

I see no reason why you couldn't use magical instruments for your bardic music. As for the goggles I'd estimate them at 50 GP perhaps? If anyone knows of an official price for the aformentioned goggles please let me know.

I came upon this prestige class and thought it would be perfect for this campaign, I'd use a dex instead of con bonus for the last tempo as was suggested on that site. You can all feel free to take this prestige class.

I noticed the musical feat has a will save DC of the users peform check.

First off, does everyone make a seperate will save, or does the group around us as a whole make the save?

And do you really mean our perform check? Or 10+ our perform check?
Because if its just the perform check, the feat won't really do anything for quit a few levels.
Or only against really weak willed people.

The musical feat was revised to simply make people sing and dance while performing any actions they might take. I suppose it could give allies a +1 to attack rolls while giving the enemy a -1 to attack rolls for a mechanics advantage to make it worthwhile.

I have no problem with the feat, its great.
I just thought the will save DC was kinda low.

By the way, is there anyone in the group that hasn't PMed their stats yet? Just wondering when we get started.

Id hate for this game to lose its momentum.

I found kaelyn's stats in the character profile but I'll need a more detailed character sheet(such as feats and equipment). other than that I need detailed stats for Furt and the two modrons.
