How come the Lady of Pain doesn't maze/flay you for killing a dabus. If anyone has an answer to this please tell me Laughing out loud

I'll keep that in mind but why does'nt she just flay you the first time around it just seems to make more sense Puzzled:

Probably because it's one of the only ways in the game to really lose, and so they want you to really do something stupid.

(Flaying is a real death, right?)

What I don't understand is how there are two portals (the Modron Cube and the one to Ravel's Maze) that do not exist within bounded spaces.

Ravel's portal a-folds into a bounded space; it unfolds into an archway, my little poster.

Query: Why does Rubikon portal occur in not-bounded space?
Response: Assume portal occurs within Modron Cube. Modron Cube is a closed figure in three-space, and therefore contains bounded space. Portal occurs in bounded space, therefore problem does not exist.

Partial Spoiler (but you knew that, didn't you)

You get a friendly message to tell you that you've tested your immortality against the wrong creature and been destroyed.

Which, in some ways, should technically count as a win.

Do not question the Lady of Pain! She's not some errand girl, some mere lightboy or tout to spring into action every time you ring your little bell. She flays who she wants, when she wants, and everyone else will simply have to wait their turn. She doesn't have to make an appearance unless there's a real chance that the people of Sigil are doubting her power and ability to protect them.

Anyway, she doesn't exist. She's an illusion the dabus make. Or she's three ratatosks in a robe and funny hat. It's a lot of trouble for three ratatosks to permanently kill an immortal, and they're not going to do it for just one dabus.

Actually, she mazes you the first time you tick her off. The second time she flays you.

She mazed my Nameless One for worshipping Aoskar, then nothing happened when he worshipped the LoP rag doll, and then he got flayed for killing 9 (!)* Dabus.

* Exclamation mark in parentheses; 9! would be a lot of dabus-slaying. 9, on the other hand, is the much more fun 3*3. Rule of Threes, anyone?

I never tried it, but my friend told me that if you worship the doll 3 times then she will maze you.

I remember mocking the doll repeatedly. The words 'You're a cute little Lady of Pain' are permanently etched into my memory.

Then again, whenever I got bored I had TNO make the Modron fight. Immortals make their own fun, I suppose.

Has anyone tried running Tourment on Windows XP? I know in theory you are supposed to be able to run any Windows 95 or 98 software on XP or was it just 98... oh well I don't remember but anyway I ran into an issue trying to install a scanner I bought cheap because the software was windows 95 and would not install.

So I guess the question is will Tourment run just fine on XP?? I assume it will but thought before buying it and getting really disapointed I would make sure it would work fine.

Yes, it works fine on my XP-powered computer. Well, the introduction is kind of slow, but other than that.

What's the deal with the insane Lim-Lim lol *pets the Lim-Lim*, I'm glad I saved before I kicked the damn thing- nearly killed everyone! *cringes in fear* I have a higher respect for them now... I'm starting to wonder if they put it in to basically show that looks aren't everything- and our favorite rule of, there's always something stronger than you.... but a LIM-LIM!?

I have a question about the Godsmen in Torment- I know that they believe that life itself is just one big test, and that everyone has the potential to be "godly"... but would they really help a bunch of Fiends to create a super powered machine in exchange for thier souls? doesn't that kinda, screw them over?

Toment worked fine on my W2K machine, and that's what XP is based on, so it shouldn't be a problem. If it is a problem, there was a utility that came with NT4 to trick things into thinking they were running on 9x/ME.

Heh. Really? All I ever did was pet it and let it run around. Or maybe I did kick it once or twice, but by then it liked me because I kept petting it and letting it run around. I don't remember.

Yes, and yes.

It's not a project that most Godsmen knew about, but there were a few who were willing to make it happen. My (wild and heretical) theory is that it was one of the sub-factions who were scheming to create the Seekers; the Signers were already (somewhat) allied with Bel, and they convinced a group of Godsmen to join in their unholy pact as part of their plan to unite their two factions.

Thats true- they were probably being tricked and never realized it, that makes alot more sense, thanks! ^^

Woo Hoo just won my auction for a copy of the Planescape Tourment game so when I start working in the field again I will have something to do instead of watching tv at night while I am in hotel rooms between archaeology survey work. Laughing out loud

I am going to go looking around for good information sites on the game being that the campaign guide for it seems to be selling for about $30.00+ and I am not really interested in paying that right now when I paid $3.99 including shipping for the game.

So does anyone know of any good sites for information on Tourment? I hate to use sites like that but I imagine eventually I will get into a tight spot where I just can't seem to figure something out without cheating a little bit.

There's a patch you should definitely get from somewhere, that fixes a few problems with the game, like infinite dialogue loops [select to read]like talking to certain corpses with Annah in your party
. There's a trick you can use to get around the disc swapping.

Beyond that, the only thing I can imagine wanting a walkthrough for is [select to read]TNO's maze
. Everything else flows pretty comfortably, and the puzzles don't tend to be painfully hidden and convoluted. PS: T plays much more like (very) good IF than a computer game.

Rather than make a new forum, I figured id ask here.

I found a website aboutsomething called Planescape: Vengence, which seems to be a site dedicated to creating a new planescape game using the infinity engine ( the thing that torment runs on)
Does anyone else know about this? Does anyone have any idea whats its about?
