Planescape prices

Hi all,

I've recently come the USA (Texarkana, Texas to be specific) for work purposes. Naturally, one of the first things I did was locate a comic shop to satisfy my nerdy urges for next few months.

As luck would have it, I found one nearby, and it has a bunch of Planescape products (which I've been trying to acquire over in Europe for forever) for what appear to be pretty cheap prices (also cheap magic: the gathering singles, but that's of no interest here).

There are multiples of adventure modules (harbinger house ($8 unopened), something wild ($5 2nd hand), doors to the unknown($8 unopened), the deva spark ($5 opened), the eternal boundary($5 2nd hand), the well of worlds ($10 second hand) and the great modron march ($12.50 second hand)), as well as the planeswalker's handbook ($10) and monstrous compendiums 2 and 3 ($10 each), with prices ranging from $5 to $15.

Would it be worth my while to empty them of their stock and sell everything I don't need for my own collection ?

I can provide pics for proof if y'all don't believe me Cool, as I already bought several items for my own collection.

I say go for it. I pay the

I say go for it. I pay the prices you mentioned for shipment, since I live in Turkey. My first pick would be planewalkers handbook, then compendiums if you play 2nd ed (otherwise they are more like artbooks with a little fluff.).

Buying them to fill gaps in

Buying them to fill gaps in your own selection, yeah, those prices sound good.  Unfortunately, though, they aren't low enough to be worth it to buy and resell later.  All of those are about the current going price for those products online, from what I've seen.  Well of Worlds might be a little on the cheap side if it still has the map insert, but that's the only one.

Now, if you see any of the Planes Of boxed sets or Hellbound going for $15, or even $25, snatch them up immediately, because you'd make a good profit on them.   Those are probably the highest sellers right now among the easily-obtainable items, usually around $45-50 for the Planes of and about $60 for Hellbound.  There are rarer products that get up above $100 the few times they pop up - the Planescape Sketchbook, the RPGA module Needle in the Eye - but there's almost no chance you'll find them in a gaming shop.

Are those american prices

Are those american prices or european ones you're referring to?

I know PS stuff is almost impossible to get in europe - only place I've seen any was last year's Spiel gaming convention in Essen, Germany, and I payed through the nose for the box sets I acquired there.

(Plus, they're not so expensive that I can't afford to just break even with them.)

I guess I'd better just contact the home front and ask someone to inquire some of the local gameshops and gamers, and see how much they'd be willing to shell out for that stuff.

PS: Turns out I missed a couple of items first time I went through it. Picked up Faces of Evil: Fiends and the Factol's Manifesto for $10 each yesterday.

Those are American prices, but I'm talking about eBay right now.  There probably aren't very many physical stores either over here or over there that carry them, so gaming conventions are the only place I could imagine commonly seeing them for sale in either place.

Now, I can't really speak for the European eBay market since I don't watch it as closely, and I'm not really sure how much overlap there is between the two anyway, but I can't imagine things are all that different over there for those.  The reason modules don't go for much is because tons of them were printed.  Not as many box sets were, and they didn't always get kept together by the customer that bought them, so they're naturally more expensive.  I'm not sure what print runs looked like for TSR in Europe back then, but I'd guess that English-language products should be fairly widespread online even there in the intervening 10-15 years since Planescape was in print.  That's just a guess, though, and not even an especially informed one I'd say.

Also, if you wanted to know: for those two products, you did come out really well.  Factol's Manifesto I usually see for around $20 online, and Faces of Evil closer to $30.

TBH, I don't keep much

TBH, I don't keep much track of ebay either, whether US or european.

I was glad to get any kind of price comparison on those items (so thanks for that Laughing), and paying a fair price for 'em doesn't bother me too much.

I do know that the boxed sets I got at the con (Hellbound, PS campaign setting) cost me 100 euros each. Uncaged: Faces of Sigil cost me 25 euros (and is available for $10 at the store Sad ).

(Factol's Manifesto is a great book BTW - me likey. )

No problem, glad to help.  Although it's not all good news: you really got killed on the campaign setting.  That's the only boxed set that actually goes for relatively cheap, it's usually only about $20 online. Sad
