Planescape fic - 4th Edition and irony, with tongue firmly in cheek

Greetings,

My ventures in fantasy fiction have brough me to upload the following story in observance of the International Day of Femslash and in response to the - to put it kindly - controversial release of D&D 4th Edition. Eladrin and Aasimar will never quite be the same again...and I don't like it. So, without further ado:

Title: The Dragon Huntress' Trophy

Bravo, bravo! I wish there

Bravo, bravo! I wish there was more on queer D&, but sadly it's become more of an insult at the gaming table than any real component in a game :*(

I have to say, I'm

I have to say, I'm surprised... the plot shifts rather abruptly to Pr0n story. Guess I better should have checked out what 'femslash' is, before I started reading, eh?

So, what's the story about, all in all? Laughing out loud

Edit: I realize that my reply may sound offensive. That's not my intention. The writing-style is, as far as I can judge it, quite good. The rising tension was interesting and kept me reading. But the 'climax' of the story really dumbfounded me by being merely jack-off material. If that, on the other hand, is a feature of this femslash-stuff, then I probably have to accept that... Eye-wink

Calmar - thanks for the

Calmar - thanks for the feedback and no, your reply was not offensive: I am always happy when readers speak their mind.

I uploaded the story for the International Day of Femslash in response to the prompting of a yahoo group to which I belong. I understand that any number of readers feel erotica/porn/pr0n etc. to be something of a marginal literary pursuit with no redeeming value whatsoever. On the whole, I agree. Which is, in part, why I write it. Whatever acts are committed whilst considering my writing is the reader's own prerogative.

Personally, I find writing erotica in the fantasy milieu rather fascinating. The story, itself, is not about much in particular: a few digs at D&D 4th edition, conventions in fantasy writing etc. It's not meant to be taken seriously on any level, but rather, to put it in your terms, to be something like "porn with plot" - erotica, if you will, but that can be such a horribly pretentious term.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with that. My point is that the story starts way too promising, just to disintigrate that way. Smiling

I don't know...'promising'

I don't know...'promising' is a loaded term. Sex is just as much a logical conclusion to anything as is, say, violence, mystery, suspense etc. I could have made it 'fade to black', but I think that this is a vaguely prudish device: it's been building up to something sexual, so why not discuss sex? It's bit like a battle scene building up for three chapters and then the battle being described in terms of 'Jane won, Sarah lost'.

In regards to the conclusion, I was expecting some kind of twist. I had the impression that "Sigrid, though, could not help but mull over an exit strategy." was hinting at such in the begining.

After the surprise that the unexpected surprise I expected did not happen (Sticking out tongue), the sudden explicitness was rather shocking. Mind you, that it's not the act itself, but that you - after what I consider very skillful circumscription of the action - suddenly turn to such vulgar diction.

Not that I'd normaly be prissy about such stuff, but in this case it really caught me flat-footed...

I think the little details

I think the little details on how age affects the body were really good. It makes the characters more real though admittedly I skimmed the actual sex. I would love to see more from these two characters as their emotiona interaction seems promising.

bravo indeed,

@Frogretoric - thanks for

@Frogretoric - thanks for the positive feedback and I shall certainly keep you updated. I am putting the finishing touches of a novella set in urban/steampunk Sigil, so I'll up the link as soon as my betas get back to me.

In the meanwhile, you can take a look at my first article for Planewalker: "The Alternative Guide to the City of Doors" that mentions many of the locations and NPCs included in my work.
