First post and I’m a big fan of the website and the Planes

I was going to have my PCs run across a powerful tome that is a cook book that shows you how to make the perfect meat loaf. When you follow the directions to make the meat loaf instead of making meat loaf you end up making a powerful (add some here item) That steals souls from other planes and has the power to even make them.

I was just wondering if the cook book of perfect meat loaf would be a super powerful magic item and would everyone throughout all the planes would want a item as powerful as this.

Not if some magical items in your campain look plain and unasuming, in that way cookbook of perfect meatloaf would be looking like ordinary cookbook untill it true purose is found. Then I think that many folk would want to put their mitts on it.
For example: the One Ring from LOTR looked just like simple gold ring, until its purpose as superwapon was discovered and, voila you have instant trilogy.
Secondly your book contain instruction how to create "Meatloaf of soulstealing and creating", that means that "meatlof" is actual artifact in this story, not the book. So you can keep the book compleatly ordinary to keep players in compleate dark of what treasure they actualy have on they hands.
Than someone will say sooner or later: "Gee, let's try to make that perfect meatlloaf thingie for lunch...", untill that time keep practising manical laughter.

Mmmm, meatloaf...

lol thanks for the help man. Yeah the back story on the meat loaf is that some crazy chaotic being, was hungry for some meat loaf but he had no clue how to even make it. So it just started aiding random stuff into his concoction and he just so happen to make a Meatloaf of soulstealing and creating.

This chaotic being was hunted down for stealing people souls and his awful tasting meat loaf. He was cast into the abyss and was never ever seen again. Some planewalkers who are brave enough to venture into the abyss sometimes say they meet up with a strange crazed man that ask them if they would like some meat loaf... Eye-wink Also some think he is the reason why demons don't eat meat loaf

Just for fun of it you can include recepie for Brownies... That are made from BROWNIES (faries that is). Laughing out loud

Anyways I have tougth who would be actualy against the ultimate meatloaf. If the meat loaf can steal souls, folk who would be oposing such thing are fiend and beings with abilites of soul stealing.
Beings like Shadow fiends, Sukcubi, and even Night Hags, becaouse they all work hard to coruppt and steal mortal souls, and with meatloaf around their services are no longer requierd.

If the meatloaf can create souls than I think that wirtualy anyone would want that thing (remember, gods are forbiden to mess around with unborn souls of positive energy plane), but with meatloaf, anyone can create army of belivers, troops for bloodwar or celestial armies, or energy for fueling whatever doomsday artefact you can think of.
I mean PC could create enough souls that would belive in them and they can become gods before you say "meatloaf"...

That is my option anyway, bdw I like your chaos chef story (fun stuff).
Like they said in movie Ratatoie: "Anyone can cook", even rats and crazy chaos beings from Abyss Laughing out loud
