The Omniscient Order

Sect: The Omniscient Order
Philosophy: The way to ascension is to know everything in the universe.
Headquarters: The Great University (Mechanus)
History: The history of the Omniscient Order is nothing special. Some ex-Sensates and Guvners banded up, had a chat, and decided to create the Omniscient Order. Little has happened since then, and since they write everything down, they know too. The most important event in their history was the creation of the Great University, which has made them quite popular for a sect.
Restrictions: To join, you have donate a book that doesn't have the same information as other books in the Great University's library. Thankfully, this is often as simple as a book about the Blood War that mentions how a single Mezzoloth died.
Advantages: Joining this sect grants you +3 for any Knowledge check.
Disadvantages: Unless it is obviously false or requires an act of extreme stupidity or atrocity, members cannot refuse any offers of information.

Re: The Omniscient Order

I like the idea of the library, it fits in nicely with my own views pertaining to such things. And a never-ending library is a fantasy I am sure one shares with many beings throughout the multiverse (scholary or otherwise).
I also like the cleverness of the ascension to 'godhood' via omnipotence. Please, take no offence as I wholeheartedly approve, I am a clueless starting out here. This is how I see it:
A deity that knows everything, even the unknown...
Understanding, comprehension, conception - this is the making of knowledge. We 'know' that it is only finite things that can be known, we ourselves are finite for we know. We exist because we concieve it so.
If the unknown were known it would no longer be considered unknown. So becoming a god would be a contradiction in terms (and I shall refrain from commenting on faith for now). Brilliant, I applaud your article. I could never join the sect, sadly; as I could never part with one of my beloved books.
Kind regards.
