Anyone here still do some old school tabletop roleplaying?

I haven't played in years, but I recently came upon all my old PS stuff while I was moving last week. A quick search in google and I found this site.

Online roleplaying has never really been my thing. I see a lot of that goes on here. Not that I have a problem with it, I just never got into it myself. Always prefered the old school method for some reason

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I will ask it nonetheless.

I'm lookin for a group of people to RP with in person. I live in Sioux Falls, SD.

If there's no one here, could you guys direct me to someplace where I might be able to hook up with some people. Our last hobby shop that catered to roleplayers recently shut down...unless there's another one I don't know about. So I'm not really sure how to get in contact with anyone.

Thnx for the help Laughing out loud

You may actually be able to find some folks at ENworld (www.enworld.org) too - it's a large enough forum that I'm *sure* there are folks in SD. I'd look first for any suggestions of a 'GameDay' in that area. Gamedays gather folks from all over hte state often enough, and it's a great way to make contacts that you may not have otherwise.

Hopefully if anyone around here is from SD they'll speak up. Eye-wink

I'm starting a good ol'-fashioned table-top PS campaign in two days, as it happens. It was horrifically hard to get friends of mine to play... because they're all doubly- and triply-booked in other table-top RPGs. So yeah, there's plenty of that going if you know where to look.

[Finding people you actually want to game with? That's another matter ;)]

I once played in a D&D campaign in which the players kept matching up. We had something like three couples in the party, and almost everyone was accounted for at one point. Honestly, I doubt that there's something arousing about the act of rolling dice together. It's got to be more having to do with the tendency of geeky high schoolers to cling together, both for recreation and romance.

Still, face-to-face RPGing is definitely the best. You never get the same level of attachment in other media for gaming. There are websites that are sort of "gaming personals," in that you make a profile in the hopes that someone in your area is looking for another player. You could try to find someone near you (sorry, I've never even been to South Dakota) or try to find an AIM/ICP campaign. Those are close to face-to-face gaming. Minus the face, of course.

They're probably just intimidated by your good looks. You know there's nothing wrong with a woman making the first move Smiling

I totally enjoy rolling dice over the online stuff, though I do play in some online games, I also play in some real life games as well, and prefer those to the online. I have had guys hit on me at games and it is kind of funny, cause your at this game to play, but hey, I met my husband of 7 years at a game. *shrug* So rock on dice rollars of the world!

PS(sorry I don't live in your area)

There's nothing wrong with people meeting through their mutual addiction. At least if it's dnd which is healthier then most other addictions. Too bad it's not cheaper or less time-consuming Sticking out tongue
