Newbie wants to know about classes...

Hey, I just saw this urban planescape deal and thought to myself "my dear god orgasmic".

Anyway, one thing I do want to know, is how do classes work with modern planescape? Just use d20 Modern rules for classes and whatnot? I happen to really like the d20 Modern rules... as in, much more than I like D and D rules... but I think they might be a bit low magic for the planes. Perhaps a reworked "archmage" prestige class is in order? One that pushes a spellcasters max spell level up to 9 instead of just granting more lower level spells? And if this is done, how would one go about making sure that spellcasters did not become the most powerfull class in modern planescape? Would it be because non spellcasting classes have access to powerfull modern technology/magic mixes (IE: +5 glock type stuff)?

Thats all folks. Thanks again.

We've been discussing a new class system, one that's a little more generalised and modular than D20 Modern. I think Persephone was the main person working on that, though, so I'll let her chime in on how that's going.
