Alright, in the interests of having a forum that we can much more easily update and enhance (dice bot anyone?) I've been working on rewriting the forums. The best way to find out if they work of course is to try to break them - but I don't want to launch them directly for obvious reasons.

So. I ran a transferal script over earlier today. All of your accounts should exist over on the other set of forums. I'd like some of you folks to wander over there and bang on it a bit. Tell me if something breaks.

Oooh, pretty! Might I suggest a slight color tweak, however? The olive-green text (such as in the Recent Articles) doesn't show up too well against the olive-brown background. Maybe a little more contrast would help reading?

I especially love the banner art at the top. Where'd you find it?

I was worried about that problem with the text. I'll see what I can do with that.

The banners are a collection of various bits of artwork from here and there. Refresh a few times and you'll see different ones. At least one of them is from Arthur Rackham.

I darkened the link color. Better?

Awesome. I love it. The Cadence approves.

Overall it all "looks" and "handles" very nicely. The banner background graphics are a nice touch also Eye-wink.

I'm not sure about the 'username' URLs in the side profiles for posters though. Could you perhaps make them more defined, with a different font, or even just make them bold?

Appearances after all, count.

That's the sort of stuff I'm looking for now. Eye-wink
I think I've got most of the biggest bugs out by this point, so now we're down to just having a lot of eyes looking at it to catch what one person would overlook.

Ok. Fixed. Better?

Oh yes, they're more defined now Cool.

I do have two minor nitpicks though... but they are really just about general appearance. Firstly, is it necessary to have the exact time stamp for the "JOINED:" section of the poster's profile? It just seems to clutter the profile box. The date is enough I think. And secondly, I feel that there should be a space inserted between the "POSTS:" section of the profile, and the actual number of posts listed. Again, it looks too cluttered.

Additionally, going back to my comments about the "JOINED:" section of the profile... there should probably be a space inserted between the end of that section and the actual joined date that is listed as well.

All of the date displays go through the user preferred date display option in their profile.

Should that change? (Let's find out. It's been changed.)

Also - just fixed the spacing issue.

It's all looking good.

And I see the "LOCATION:" section is back also Cool.

I think I've complained about this before, but Rrakkma's subsection links along the left-hand side of the screen have recently disappeared. If anyone finds them sitting around somewhere, and would be so kind as to return them, I'd be rather grateful. I see them when I'm on the main Rrakkma page, but if you click on any of them, the subsection pages don't have the same links.

Looks like it's not just you. I'll have to trouble shoot that tommorrow while I'm working on getting a conversion that won't blow up in my face like this afternoon. But it shall be corrected.

Ok - looks like the basic conversion worked.

Things to watch out for for everyone.
1) If you're seeing somethign you didn't see before - or suddenly not seeing something you saw before. Tell me. I need to know so I can be sure I got the security restrictions right.

2) New topic posts. I want to be sure that the system is registering new topics for users. So if you aren't seeing the icons change to indicate a new posts was made - let me know.

Clueless, something kinda odd:

1. there are no reply icons anymore
2. when I click on the arrow to goto the last message posted, it takes me to the beginning of the thread, not the end...

FYI.

Re: #1 - What forum and thread was it in? Not all threads allow all users to post - so some of them just simply don't show the icons. (The previous forums showed the button but would stop you from posting if you tried to.)

Re: #2 - Which arrow? There are about three links where there's a 'last post' noted - which one is failing?

#1 Sorry - should have been more specific. There's a reply at the top of the thread, but not at the bottom. Not an issue, just kinda inconvinient. Sticking out tongue

#2 Seems to be working now. Smiling

Great job!

This is quite beautiful, but I miss being able to click on "posts since last visit" and instantly see the recent posts without having to look through all the forums.

There should still be that option on the front page. I'll check to make sure I remembered to include it.

In the meantime - check out the auto dice roller message below! And best part is after you roll - you can't edit it. Yay for our PbP games. Eye-wink

BTW .... Fixed. (index page - top right hand corner).

2 Bonus for Int to do
I rolled 1d20+2, the result is 11.

Questio for Clueless - Why is it when I attempt to "post a new reply" it takes me straight to an "edit a post" window? I can't preview the post either...

Post a reply and edit a post are the same thing. In one case you're editting a 'blank' post (aka making a new one). And in the other case you're editting one that already exists.

Preview was not replicated on this version of the forum software. Mostly because I want to beat the bugs out of the more critical systems before working on that one. It'll be on the next update.

The new design is very nice, but I have two major complaints:

a) no lady Sad

b) This is the ugliest dozen of default smilies ever!! I mean, look at this dude --> Smiling <-- He's like a regular smiley, only he looks like something in between smirking and being ugly!

But other then that, very nice Cool

Maybe you are working on it right now, but for whatever reason I can't access it.

*confused look*

That was a loooong while ago. The software that I was having folks test out is actually what you're using right now. And I *know* you can get into that - you just posted with it. Eye-wink
