New classes?

I was wondering how any of the new base classes (And PrC) presented in the Complete series would fit into Plancescape? Also wondering how books like Tomb of Magic, Book of Nine Swords and other things would work?

New classes?

from my understanding, and how i run it in my campaigns:

case classes from specific worlds are avaliable to primes from those worlds. other classes are all avaliable with a working backstory and explination.

prestige classes require training in the field of expertise. this means that a teacher must be found. thus, all prestige classes (even world specifc ones) are avaliable with a teacher and training.

the same goes for feats and skills.

hope that helps!

None of the classes in the new books are really world specific anymore. Even the asian classes could be found in Ebberron or FR/Kara-Tur and some other places. I also tend to think in terms of abilities and not class specific name. A Ninja could easily be found in the Planes because I can see someone else, a non asian person, having those abilities. Some other classes are pretty specific though I guess.

When will the rest of the book be done? I loved the 3.5 update. Some of the factions need more feats though. Cause it seems like one barely gets any and other gets a ton. Also like to see more racial feats.

It doesn't really matter which new classes you use, classes are there to fit the character concept, and it's quite possible that many characters will get ret-conned into being in new classes.

For example I had a character who was a Fighter/Rogue when I thought him up, but with Unearthed Arcana and Complete Adventurer, that character would now be a Fighter (Thug variant)/ Scout. Many characters will probably be ret-conned to Crusaders, Swordsages and Warblades with the Tome of Battle.

Everytime a new book comes out, there's always a chance that someones character is going to change.

Those PrC's which are world specific are usually just a bit of fluff away from matching a different campaign anyway. the DMG says as much regarding the Thayan Red Wizard PrC.
I mentioned the other day on the Ortho Forum that I think the Shadowbane Inquisitors/stalkers require very little adaptation to turn them into an elite branch of the Harmonium and I think similar things could be said for many other classes so long as you've got an open mind.

Change the flavor text - steal the mechanics - and go with it. Eye-wink

Well I'm definitly going to have Ninja cause I love them but gonna call them something else. I could see Samurai and other classse too. I don't have the 9 swords book yet but I guess I will look at all the Planescape stuff and try and see where stuff would fit. If I do a good enough job am I allowed to submit stuff? It would be cool to have more guides to Planescape like "Classes in the Planes." I could see Ninja being very Shadowplane oriented possibly, or very secretive and serving a lot of different organizations and since Ninja can be any alingment there could be both good and evil ones BUT since they are ninja only in mechanic I can also shut down any new ager ninja people like heretic on Wizards who keep saying Ninja aren't evil. Sticking out tongue

AND BTW How come I tell this stupid thing to send me notifications when people respond but it DOESN'T do it?

1) Do you have 'send me notifications' set in your profile?
1b) If not, you'll need to check the box in the post edit form that says "Notify me when a reply is posted"
2) Do you have a valid email address listed for your profile?
3) Are you running a spam filter that may be eating them?

(And if all else fails I can check for system bugs when I get home. Eye-wink )

I remember seeing a shadow based Ninja in Dragon magazine last year, can't remember the exact issue but I can look it up later if you like.

PS. Not all Ninja's are evil, just my instructor.
PPS. Who else has noticed that there's no need to use PS in an electronic age? It just means you can't be stuffed going back and re-wording your previous statement.
PPPS. Laughing out loud

Yeah look it up. I'd also love the one with the feats for the ninja where he can use different abilities instead of his normal chi uses. Same goes for Warlocks and any other classes.

Sorry about the delay, the ninja should be in Dragon 318 from April 2004.

Is there a way to find articles from Dragona and not have to get the whole magazine? I want the class ones that give new feats and spells for any classes. I might need a subscription to it, that would make a awesome gift idea, though I know I don't have room for tons of magazines. When I get a house and not live in an apartment that house will be FULL of bookcases! Laughing out loud
