New Articles and search function

A couple of weirdnesses:

* One of my fiction pieces (A Tale In The Dark) has been entered into the memory banks, but hasn't shown up in the New Articles window. Might be concidence or some feature of which I'm unaware, but it's worth mentioning I guess.

[Also, is it possible for someone to fix the spacing? I tried but no dice; the paragraphs are unevenly spaced and the section-ending spaces (which should be a double carriage return) are just all the heck over the place. I got it as close as I dared before I gave up.]

* On a like note, if you click on My Posted then hit Refresh, you don't get My Posted at all, you get a complete listing of, well, everything. The problem seems to be that the My Posted link produces a busted URL in the act of submitting some kind of request that doesn't get archived (using the latest build of Firefox here in case that makes any difference) so that the Refresh doesn't pick up the filters, nor does C&Ping the URL give you anything like the behavior you want.

There are some other interface issues re submission that I'll get to when I remember them Smiling

Added in proof: oh, here's one. The Word-ish form that you submit your fiction in is either incompatible with Firefox, or at least not obviously compatible with Firefox. [Don't recall the error message, sorry.] I suspect there's an easy enough fix but it'd be worth either correcting that or putting an entry in the FAQ on how to maneuver around it.

Re: tale in the dark - it's currently awaiting it's turn in release (I believe I have it spaced out for tommorrow or the day after). I'll double check the spacing for you.

Re: Firefox error - if it's copy and pasting and pops up a popup at you - read the error a little more closely, there should be directions on how to tell Firefox that planewalker is a site you trust to do copy and pasting in.

I'll take a closer look at the My Posted section - it's never done that to me but I'll see if I can figure out what's causing it.

Ah, 'twas a feature. Smiling Good to know!

[And thanks on the spacing.]

Yeah, I know -- it was 4am, though, and I was lazy Eye-wink

[And I still think it'd be worth adding to the FAQ in case those of, uh, less equitable temperament than myself became, uh, unduly frustrated. Yeah. That's the ticket.]

Like I said, I think it's a busted URL in the redirect, but I could be wrong.

Weirdness with spacing

This may be particular to me -- I don't recall anyone else mentioning it -- but I'm still getting odd paragraph spacing issues when I try to copy work into the Wordpad-esque form under My Planewalker. It's almost as if the spaces are a different font size or something, but not consistently so, and while they're easy enough to fix it's incredibly time-consuming. [Took me ~30 minutes on my last submission.] This seems to track across all browser/editor combos I've tried (variations on a theme of IE/Firefox + Wordpad/Word/OpenOffice, two different computers, both under WinXP) so I'm thinking this is probably a legitimate curiosity. Anyone else having similar difficulties?

[It's only multiple linebreaks that are screwy but given that that's the standard internet paragraph formatting, it really does mean that every paragraph break has to be edited by hand...]

Hm. It sounds like it's probably an example of word's screwiness from what you're describing. Word doesn't copy and paste pure text - it copies and pastes this marked up variation of HTML that causes some pure wierdness once it hits the form. The form can handle most of it - but some of the stuff it puts in is probably extra breaks and the like.

Can you use notepad instead and see if that causes the same problem when it's being copied from? I say notepad specifically because Wordpad is another MS product that does the same wierd html tagging on copies and pastes.

I wasn't able to replicate it - but I did put in a user ID check that might make a difference. Try now?
