Names of Githyanki weapons?

I'm creating an NPC githyanki knight to use as a recurring character or villain. That got me thinking about the way githyanki warriors name their blades. Of course +2 aberration bane silvered greatsword is quite impressive, but I've the faint suspicion that a githyanki wouldn't call her sword that name, unless she went barmy. Smiling

Are there any topics about that already I missed? Would it be a name in the githyanki language (aka some more or less pleasant sounding sound), or a word that describes the weapon's abilities or battles it was wielded in? Smiling

So, in order to have at least a placeholder name, that blade is, for the time being, called Var'i'tarLaughing out loud

Since githyanki regard weapons as sacred objects, I would say they would not give them "silly" or frivolous names.

This is entirely my take, but I don't think they would give personal names to weapons, either (i.e., no "Joe" or "Jane" or "this gith I admired" or "famous historical gith"). I think githyanki weapons would tend to have names related to their function, or some abstract quality that the githyanki admires.

Some (unofficial) githyanki vocabulary:

Some more (unofficial) githyanki vocabulary (self-promotion!):

A small amount of official githyanki vocabulary is provided in Dungeon #100.

I have given some githyanki

I have given some githyanki weapons names, though there has only been a minimal meathod on my part.

Examples:

The greatsword of a knight from the Iron Fists of Vlaakith, connected to the Band of Iron, named "Destiny of Iron"

The bastard sword of a warrior, named "Smokey Metal"

The dagger of a Warlock, straight-bladed and trimmed in silver and black, named "Silver Sheen"

The curved dagger of a Gish, named "Violent"

Flavor note: My BoGr

Flavor note: My BoGr character's enchanted dagger is (paradoxically enough) named "Mercy," mostly because it's essentially a misericorde:

It's designed specifically to deliver a coup de grace to implanted illithid tadpoles.

My BoGR character’s flail

My BoGR character’s flail is named ”the Arbiter”, as the final resolve to settle a dispute. Arbitration is putting down the last word between involved conflicting parties, though if the symbolism should have been closer to a legal proceeding I suppose it would fit better on a hammer.

Considering how kinetic movement on the Astral is influenced by mental discipline and all githyankis have minor telekinetic prowess (expressed through the far hand ability), I imagine a gith flail master to use his weapon with much more grace on the Astral.
