I got the music but how do I convert into something that can actually be played from a CD? I just put the files on a CD and wasted space. Is there any way I can wipe the CD or something? If it wont play from a CD player/stero then it's worthless to me.

What format are the music files in?

Um Win Rar originally. Then when I extract them I have no idea what format it's in.

Your CD burning program should have an option for making an audio CD - that's the one that'll play in a stereo-type CD player. As far as I know they need to be in either .wav or .mp3 format to burn that way, although programs might accept other types, too - I've never really tested that.

I don't know if the Planewalker.com Hall of Records forum is the best place to ask about what is, essentially, a hardware issue not related to Planescape, but I'll see what I can do.

Anyone else think at first that his files were in "Um Win Rar" format? Like, Ignus.umr?

So, first off, you can't erase the information on a CD-R, which is most likely what you have. If you have a CD-RW, then yes, but those are expensive and it'd be stupid to burn your music onto one of those just to use in a stereo.

Right. What Bob said. You have to tell the program you want to make an audio CD, not a data CD or any other option. A data CD fits in a lot more files, but can only be read by a CD-ROM drive on your computer (and some other stuff).

If your computer is like most, you need to convert the files into .wav, .mp3., or .wma formats. You can search around online, through some variously sketchy websites, for a RAR-to-MP3 converter program, or you can just go here:
http://www.planescape-torment.org/?page=soundtrack

That website has all the music files as MP3s, and even includes a text track listing and a printable CD case insert with pretty pictures. And plenty of other cool Torment goodies.

Seriously, just delete the RAR files and get these. Problem solved.

Thanks! I now have all the songs in MP3 format and I will get rid of the songs in the "other" format.

Are there any other songs both from video games or modern day music that inspire a Planescape feel? Any songs perhaps from the guys who did Legend? I know their songs have been recomended for a lot of D&D games. I think I want to avoid most music with lyrics because even if a Metalica song for example fits, it doesn't lend the kind of feel I would want.

Hmm like does any music from the Baldur's Gate series work? Maybe any Final Fantasy music?

Sharn: City of Towers for Eberron comes with a CD. It's got nice, thematic D&D music. Just change the names of the tracks to something planar.
