This is another idea-hunt quest for me. Looking for some ideas for interesting and usable Fo Ling Po tattoo memories for some time down the road when I take my comic there. If I like your idea enough to use it, I'll give credit and you'll get to see it on display
Memories of Fo Ling Po

Fo Ling Po is a city in Gehenna where the inhabitants have their memories tattooed on their skin. You can sell your memories there, losing them.
How specific should the memories be? Like, a cloud or a bird could represent, "A perfect summer day spent with my late wife." or a bloodshot eye could be, "The time I sat under the staircase listening to dad hit mom and I was too scared to move or do anything about it." or just a spiraling abyss for, "The moment I realized I was truly alone in the world."
I think the more interesting question for a comic treatment would be the value of the memory to the one losing it.
Tearful eyes of the mother selling the memory of her child's birthday to put food on the table. She might deperately want it back at some stage. A terrible thing would happen if she sold the memories of her child and didn't know who to bring the food to.
I can imagine the bitter soldier with memories to sell. Might make him less bitter. Might include knowledge of fortifications, secret doors or strange beasts. Might simply be misery and bloodshed being sold for cheap thrills.
Good luck with the comic.
Sigurd
If I remember correctly, inhabitants can also summon their tatoos to existence. If that's true it would be kinda awesome.
Sorry, I've been really busy so I haven't gotten back to this forum lately to check in. @Evil: Yes, the people of Fo Ling Po can summon their tattoos to fight for them at need. This power will be relevant to the chapter that takes place in the city. @DocBeard: I suppose it calls for a bit of imagination. The book says the citizens basically wear their entire lives on their sleeves, almost literally. So presumably, you can see everything in a person's past just by looking at them. @Sigurd: An interesting take on the idea, definitely something I can work with. Thanks!

What is Fo Ling Po? Is that detailed in one of the sourcebooks?
