Mapmaker looking for stuff to do

The title says it all really. I need an excuse to practice cartography, so I may as well be helpful and practice. If anyone wants a map (especialy of a building) please post details. I use photoshop or dungeoncrafter 1 or 3 depending on my mood.

*glee* ^_^

Can you do town maps? The generalized kind, as opposed to detailing every building. Because Clueless has an awesome description of Blight (It's the new Plague-mort, now with 50% more Gnoll!) around here somewhere ( www.planewalker.com/forum ) and it would be quite shwanky if you did it and perhaps some slightly more detailed maps of some of the other gatetowns.

A bit more information for a town would help (aproximate dimensions especialy), but how general is general (just roads and points of intrest or slightly more detailed?)

Not up to me, really, but I was thinking city blocks and buildings/sites of interest (perhaps done with a bit of isometric perspective to set them apart from the less detailed generic buildings).

*gasp* *POUNCE* "Hi - how would you like to..."
Oh wait - you already said yes...

Ok: detail level for the city maps is aiming at about the detail level of a standard WotC map. So you can usually see major roads, buildings and city layout for major locations. You can't usually see inside the important buildings but you have a rough idea of their external shape and size.

I will work on figuring out some dimensions for you for city size - though admittedly, this is a D&D map so relational information is probably more important in the long run than scalar information.

We'll have to pick out a nice visual look for the maps. I have the beginnings of a decent photoshop template for the maps, but I'm sure you have your own materials already for that. Eye-wink

Would a rough sketch of what I had in mind for the maps help give context to the text of the city for you?

yes, a sketch is definitely good. I'd like to see what you have in the way of styles since it's probably better and more choices are good.

Alright, not to be a peery barmy (read: bloody paranoid), but am I the only one that finds it eerily fortunate that the need for a cartographer and the unrelated appearance of a cartographer were resolved within the same day?

<_<

Clueless, I've made a few rough maps, but seeing the sketches you've made would help a bit.

Ack! I am so sorry for the long delay on this.

Time has just sort of vanished on me this month - I will try to get some out to you tonight before I head out to Gencon. (Yay for having to shop up early at the airport...) Are you going to be at the con by any chance?

Also - I suspect the folks working on Desire and the Dead, might also use some map help if you haven't been following it already. Eye-wink

Yes pleeeeeeease!!!

Seriously.... Xaos, that would be absolutely fantastic. In particular I need a decent map of the Grey District (which is pretty maleable at present, so you'd have a lot of creative input). I have serviceable maps of Blighthouse and Gnarlybone's lair, but if you think you can produce something better (and it won't be hard), then that would be great.

See Desire and The Dead for more info, or PM me and I'll send you through my notes.

I hope to start soon, but at the moment I'm trying to get the last of my schoolwork out of the way so it's not hanging over my head. I may be a while.
