Lady of Pain Costume

Hello everyone!

I've just started here on the forum, but I've been an avid Planescape fan for years....and I've finally decided to make a costume that comes from the campaign. I'm starting to work on a puppet/costume of the Lady of Pain.

I made this costume http://xbc.xanga.com/9bca6266c453270616566/b47481774.jpg a while ago, and shortly after that I made this one of an undead warlock http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk228/Fyriel/n61011942_33609285_4397.jpg and this one of some crazy steampunk...thing http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk228/Fyriel/portpage6.jpg

(you can see more at my portfolio, www.fyriel.com)

and now, I'm working on an 8 foot tall (or more) version of the Lady of
Pain. So, since you're all amazing and love planescape as much as I do
(at least most of you) I thought you'd enjoy watching me agonize over
making this insane costume...and if you have any
support/comments/criticism, yell at me!

so go to my blog...http://sorceryandglue.blogspot.com

and watch me make it!  I'm hoping or it to be done by the
end of July for comic con, so there will be lots of updates...and of
course, if you know anything about planescape and anything I can add to
the costume, do tell. If anything, I'm hoping the costume will do this amazing campaign justice.

Thanks everyone!

~Holly

How do you plan on making it 8 feet tall?

Also, in  http://xbc.xanga.com/9bca6266c453270616566/b47481774.jpg , your eyes are BLUE. Really blue. As in, "The spice must flow" level of blue. Are those contacts?

Yay! I'm glad you all like

Yay! I'm glad you all like it.There's a skit to go with the costume as well, so I might use some of the Torment music for it, but we'll see...

And yes, the blue eyes are contacs ;D

And the whole  this is going to be above my head..so, it's more like a head and torso...above my head....and draped over me, if that makes sense...once I make it you'll see! haha

I'll keep you guys updated!! And of course hopefully post elsewhere, I miss walking the planes....;D

Your costumes are absolutely amazing! I particularly love the crazy steampunk one (http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk228/Fyriel/portpage6.jpg ). Not only is it a wonderful costume, but the photos are great as well!

I'll definitely be following the development of this Lady costume. Keep up the great work!

You know, if I had the money, I would totally hire you to help me set up a themed bar. Your sense of aesthetic is absolutely incredible. You really bring the genre to life.

Your skills are astounding! Laughing out loud I am taking a sewing/costuming class at my local college so I can create some decent D&D costumes for my friends and you are an absolute inspiration!!!!

Re: Lady of Pain Costume

Oh man, I'm pretty sure I saw her at Comic-Con, or at least someone else with an amazing Lady of Pain costume/robot and torment music.

It was pretty great. I can't believe I never noticed this thread.

Hi again everyone!! Yeah that was me! We won the Workmanship award and the Costume Designer's guild award! If you want to go see pictures of the finished costume, go here: http://www.fyriel.com/2009/08/lady-of-pain.html

And if you go to my blog, on this post... http://sorceryandglue.blogspot.com/2009/07/comic-con-is-over.html

David "Zeb" Cook actually commented on it!!! I was super excited, that's probably the best praise I could have gotten. Anyway, thanks everyone for the comments, again!!

Re: Lady of Pain Costume

I thought I saw a picture of her at Comic Con!!! Amazing work! Most of the costumes there were quite good, but it definitely stood out amongst the crowd.

Re: Lady of Pain Costume

Pretty awesome. Wonder if much of the audience got the reference though with PS being a somewhat niche fandom now. Then again, they did reintroduce the Lady to newer D&D versions.
