Issue three will come out as soon as I have enough articles to really get someplace with it. We've run through our usable backlog now, so we really do need your input!
Issue 3: December, Xaos Issue
Ok - I'm aiming for a release date of Decemember 15, which means I need articles for the most part by Nov. 23 if possible. (Later submissions are ok, but makes it harder to find art for them on short notice.)
In terms of guidelines. Since this will be the issue released for the month Capricious - a Xaos (pro/con) theme would be appropriate.
I could really use some news, planar or Sigilian - of most use would be a follow up to the Sigil Tax issue, that would probably make the first or second page. News (and the resulting plot hooks for games and the like) articles are the meat of the paper right now.
In addition - I really like the Orroloth's philosophy series as a whole - it's fitting for Sigil, well written and just generally a pleasure to read in the society section. It gives some depth to the philosophical debates in Sigil that can otherwise be hard for players to grasp.
Just saw your email and LJ request for articles for Issue 3, sorry I've been off on holiday and working on other projects so I've not really been following things as closely as I should have done.
In any case, as soon as I figure out which articles I wrote for Issue 1 and 2 - then I will be able to write follow-up articles. They'll be done by the beginning of next week, if you cannot include them in Issue 3 that's fine. I'm not really sure that the will have a Xaos bent to them, I'll see what I can do. Thanks.
The Novemeber 23rd deadline is my own deadline just to try and give me enough time to get art for the articles. If you get me something after that I can still get it in - it just might not get artwork.
I'm looking forward to seeing whatcha get put together for it.
Well, I've sent some short articles via PM to you clueless. I'll see if I can get a single longer article written over the weekend, something Xaos related.
Got em!! I'm looking forward to the next one from ya! I'm rounding up a few of our other folks as well for this.
For some reason some of the submission systems haven't been working so I'm going to see if I can figure out what on Earth is causing that and get that fixed up again.
I actually find myself with some free time at this junction, so if you need anything done (a bit of writing, editing, etc), drop me a line.
You do know that there's not actually an on line form at the link in your sig, right?
Just FYI....
It was causing problems within the last few days so was taken down for repairs.
Clueless - What exactly is it that you need to complete this much overdue third issue? Or to be more specific, how much space are you looking to fill before press?
Alright, so what's going on? I assume you aren't interested in pursuing this project any longer.
Opps! What's going on is I got buried in work and other repairs on site and literally forgot to reply to this thread.
Re: this issue, the biggest thing is that I'm still looking for a front page article - hopefully a follow up to the previous front page article re: taxes in Sigil. That's the one that's *absolutely* needed. Not absolutely required, but it needs to be something serious enough to make front page news basically.
Other minor articles are welcome too to make sure we have enough pages, but that front page article is what's really holding things up.
(BTW - Feel free to kick me sooner next time - I tend to jump around in my attention on what gets tended to on the site, cause there's so much of it. I'm trying to get the thing into a place where I can let the code be and just work on the content - but a fairly gentle poke will help keep me on track.)
Okay, I was also wondering if you needed some help. I don't have a good front page article (although I can think on it), but I can give you something to fill in a hole or two. I'll try to send you a finished article in the next couple days.
I'll keep an eye out for it. I should have a lot of the code/bugs I'm currently dealing with pounded out in the next few days so I can get all these other projects back in order.
I'll send you something. I've been terribly lax.
LSE Issue 3 is now in Editing and Production.
Any further submissions will go into issue 4 (which mind you, it would be wonderful to see ) I think I'm going to be putting out LSE issues about every 3 to 4 months based on the current rate of submitted materials and my own time to get them in order and released.
Been two months since it was in the editing process, any more word on this?
As I'm sure everyone noticed i sorta dropped off the face of the planet... thats what I've been up to this last week. Adobe tried to eat my computer's face off though once I got everything editted into place. :-/
However, the flame throwers of reinstall disks fixed that.
So - the link and announcement on the third issue will be out shortly. Issue 4... I'm not sure on. I'm out of material submitted in the past, and running low on ideas. And given the number of other projects (and the looming prospect of getting myself a new job and no longer having a lot of time)... I'm not sure when the next issue will be out unless I can locate someone else to take the reins.
Ack ... submissions I can arrange, but I'm no person to take over anything, so I can't help you in that department ... I'm sure there are plenty of very tallented inviduals who'd be willing to try rather than see the project die ... I'd recommend throwing a "help wanted" sign up on the frontpage and see who bites.
Yeah, sorry, but I can't help you either. I mean, I'm happy to send you submissions until the fhorges come home (and I totally will), but I don't know Adobe from a hole in the ground.
I agree that you should put out an anouncement and see who bites. I'm sure we have a few users who are up to the task.
Honestly, that's ok - it's a fairly sizable task to handle. Not bad if you have nothing else to *do* - but combined with projects, life, work... nu-uh. I've found that usually with projects like this the person to take over is the one who really *wants* to take over - not just someone who gets it dumped in their laps.
So re: articles - yes I will still accept and keep hold of them. Unfortunately I can't give an estimate for you of when they'll see the light of day.
Re: next issue, it'll be either when I clear other projects off my plate and can give the LSE proper attention - or someone pops out of the woodwork who wants to do that themselves.
Good job on the issue guys, and I'll be sending in a new article as soon as I think of something good.
P.S. Clueless, our announcement banner still says "Sigil NPC List." Just thought I point it out.
Epp! So it does - serves me right for posting that up in the middle of the night half-asleep. Fixed now...
I hereby promise you two new articles for the new issue.
I'm wrestling with a RL deadline right now, but then I'll get right on it. Experience tells me that these things tend to flow off my pen when I get around to them.
Are there any preferences to what sort of thing I should be writing? News (politics, topical, general events?), stories, more dissertations on philosophy, humor?
A critique isn't needed, but it's always useful.
