It's actually a solar eruption captured on July 19th 2002 by TRACE, but it does look fairly humanoid, doesn't it? I just can't decide if that flapping thing is some sort of a cape or a pair of wings?
Is this a solar or a fire elemental (with wings)?
Lets make a new dragon. Solar Dragon! we need more types of dragons. there aren't enough already
No, look, it's a humanoid standing up, see? Look at the impression on the "ground".
This is probably a helian (see next "Denizens of..." pdf release). Too bad we probably can't use this for an illustration.
The look like arms to me. More arms than wings.
Well, the sun is a perfect place to have vortices to Elemental Fire.
Since there are fire elementals, there must be a Sigil. We just need to find the portal
Pants of the North!
If that's a fire elemental, remind me to stay away from the Elemental Plane of Fire. That thing's probably bigger than the Earth is.
or close to And I think theres a solar dragon(not to sure) when's denziens coming out anyway?
Looks like a big phoenix to me.
JUST thought about it being a Phoenix before I read the comments...great minds huh? Wait a minute...that means you have a mind like me...that cant be good, seek help...soon
Great inspiration. Mind if I make full statistics for Sun Elementals on this thread?
Go for it
OK, but do you think it would be better with or without a plethora of size categories?
No, no. We need stats for the sun so that [booming voice]EPIC[/booming voice] level characters can adventure there.
Pants of the North!
I can see it now...
(EPIC Players 1-3 kill off the Tarrasque army)
EPIC Player 1: "Golly gee. We sure are earning XP slowly with our EPIC levels."
EPIC Player 2: "Yeah, we need some REAL XP."
EPIC Player 3: "Ooo! I know, we could fight the SUN! I bet that's worth a LOT of XP!"
DM: "Oh, sure, yeah. It's worth... um..."
(checks book)
"1 billion XP."
EPIC Player 1: "Sweet! We buy one of those, um, Spellpajama thingies and go there."
DM: "Right... okay."
(consults stats again)
"You all die."
EPIC Player 2: "Wait! I have a Cloak of Fire Resistance!"
DM: "Right."
(rolls dice)
"You live long enough to be crushed to death by the gravity."
EPIC Player 3: "Hey, I demand a Saving Throw! I have Improved Evasion!"
DM: "How do you evade the Sun?"
EPIC Player 3: "Well, I could, um..."
DM: (with a big smile) "Well, now that's that done, go ahead and roll up those new characters."
Perhaps these players should try again when their new characters reach divine rank 1023 (D&D has a 10-bit counter for divine rank).
Unless, of course, you had some Unmelting Vorpal sword; just open a portal near the sun and hope you get a natural 20 in the first attack. If you cut it's head, you're done. After that, the Necromancer can revive the sun as his Undead Slave.
Wow, this has to be the first time ive ever got a headache from reading a thread...and I thought I was crazy
*blink*
.... I don't care *which* it is - that's just Cool. Our sun is *possessed*! To me those look like arms lifting upwards actually.
