Interest check?

This is basically just me asking if anyone would like to join a 3.5 game I am planning. I like to put spins on things, primaraly homebrew content, which always in my opinion makes things more fun.

Mainly I want to see if anyone is interested in a game where we play as outsiders instead of the normal races. (archons, modrons, slaad, eladrin, angels, devils elementals, ect) The main problem with playing these races is level adjustment is way to high. Thus I propose this game has a new way of playing level adjustment where your ECL is simply the creatures CR+1.

Also I would allow homebrew races and feats and such, provided they aren't too overpowered.

Some good homebrew feats here: http://www.dnd-wiki.org/wiki/Book_of_Elements_%283.5e_Sourcebook%29/Elem...

Hope to see some interest here.

Re: Interest check?

I may be interested. What would be the starting level? And is there a target alignment?

Re: Interest check?

The starting level would be 12, and each player would get up to 2 characters unless we get a lot of people joining.

Re: Interest check?

Do you have any more info on your game to share? Not looking for spoilers or anything of the like, but something so that any prospective players have some idea what they're getting into. Permissible races, an alternate process for dealing with annoying level adjustments, and maximum allowable PCs per player are there, and that's a good start.
What sort of game do you intend to run? Are you looking for a serious game? A "just for fun, go crazy, do whatever you want" kind of game? Or will it depend on the characters?
Since you're proposing outsider PCs, I assume it's a Planscape setting? If so, would it be pre- or post-faction war?
What character alignment would best suit your game? Or are any and all permissible?
What about starting location? So your players will be able to write into their backstory their characters' motivations for coming to be there.

A lot of questions, I know. But you catch more fish with a baited hook. Eye-wink And it should help other prospective players determine more quickly if they're interested.

Re: Interest check?

lvl 12 start up? count me interested, but what perimeters for creation?

I have just watched Red Riding Hood & Wolfman, the new ones, and I like its dark feel that it gives.
So I would be interested in playing something dark and simply, but intelligent...
lol, not a werewolf Smiling or actually, It might be a werewolf, why should it be restricted to just plain outsiders?

or even maybe an outsider-were-wolf...?!

Bralani Were Wolf, grey/white and gentleman with sideburns...

I don't know if the rules allow this kind of combination, but I like it, and that is all that should matter, lol Sticking out tongue\

One former Lord of Baator, Gargauth the Traitor, has been exiled for conspiring with the enemy. Having made common cause with Chaos he has reaped the benefits: Morwel has given him an entire world to rule as he sees fit. This world, Abeir-Toril, Gargauth has remade in his own image, an ever-changing ruin dominated by dragons and grim cities.

One group has managed to escape Gargauth's shifting hellscape of a world: the illusionists of Nimbral, who have colonized a demiplane cloaked by magic, from which they can worship their goddess Leira and continue the battle against the conqueror of their world with lightning-fast raids on their pegasus mounts.

Interesting you should mention an outsider werewolf, Burning Spear. I was considering a barghest, myself.

Yea, cool, but Smiling I intended the Wolf to be at least non-evil Sticking out tongue,
maybe we could be a duo, the Wolf brothers? Sergeant-Major White and ...Black?

Re: Interest check?

Heh, interesting idea. Really I was just amused that we had similar concept considerations though. I'm still throwing ideas around. I'll keep that in mind, but I may just end up replaying my cambion character. *shrugs* I don't expect to have anything concrete at least until Dragonexx supplies some more info.

Can I play an angsty sparkling, "vegetarian" vampire?

I could make him a Bleaker, utterly fed up with his beauty and immortality, but not willing to end it, because this is all he's got, after all.

Re: Interest check?

I am still interested in running this game. Sorry, just got caught up in college classes. Are any of you still willing to join? The game will start in sigil. I like to blend dark elements with humerous elements as it makes for a realistic balance in storytelling.

I have no issues with evil characters, provided it's not just an excuse to kill everyone, (put some effort into it.)
Game system: 3.5
We will be starting at level 12.
Players will be allowed up to 2 characters.
The homebrew I will be using will be.
Recharge Magic (always liked that idea)
The alternate level adjustment rules listed before. (normal or CR+1, whatever's lower.)
Allowing usage of homebrew material, provided it's not overpowered.

Some good sources of homebrew feats:
(Apparently these won't link directly, so you will have to copy paste them into the address bar...

Re: Interest check?

I'm interested.

Possible monsters I would play: succubus, rakshasa, fensir. Or possibly some kind of mephit. Or an osyluth. Or a coure, or ursinal. Lots of possibilities.

Really liking the idea of ursinal, since being an extraplanar bear is about the coolest thing ever.

edit: Oh hell yes, best idea ever. We get two characters? My first will be an ursinal. My second will be a celestial paladin, but instead of the special mount, he'll ride the ursinal into battle. And you know what that means.

Game over. I win the Blood War.

You are allowing 2 characters per player???
would you allow leadership on top of that?

Depends, I don't want TOO many combatants as then it gets confusing as hell.

Heh go for it. My two character ideas were a succubus and a firre eladrin. The succubus is leaning more towards good, and has decided to tag along with the eladrin, they're good friends, but the succubus tends to cause problems wherever they go.

Also wouldn't a warden archon work better? There still bears and are lawful good which would work better with the paladin. I think they're in the BoED.

If I decide to add leadership, (or maybe Tyrant), it is intended that the followers and probably the Cohorts are merely for roleplay/ mood and background fluff... sort of background filler.. Smiling

When combat would ensue, followers are to weak anyway to cope with what the DM would throw at us, the players... Eye-wink imo.

That's kind of interesting, because one of my other characters I made for a planescape game is a "tieflimar" who descended from a succubus and a firre.

Possibly, yeah. Still not sure what I'd go through. I was also thinking sometihng like a coure bard.

Re: Interest check?

SO far,, concept wise I have:
The big boss, a Arcanaloth, who lives in a carriag, with the 2nd character being a were-hyena coach-driver.
one or the other, or both might end up with Tyrant feat, so they can have Gnol servants, bodyguards and soldiers.
The carriage is a black four wheeled four horse drawn vehicle.
It will be magical, and have much more space inside then outside.
thus making it possible to be used by the whole troupe.
on the back is more space for all sorts of equipment etc.l
inside its mostly all pillows and cushions for a very cozy/ comfortable ride/ nights sleep. if allowed, the horses will have special hoof-irons that allos the whole carriage to ride into other planes (atm a select handful, so as not to abuse it to much, but at least a starting point) maybe it needs attunign to portals that elad to other planes to make it able to access that sort of magic to shift plane Smiling

I think bard is the obvious choice.

edit: Unless bard was your obvious choice for your firre. In which case, I dunno. Ninja, perhaps?
