Here's another planar enviroment
Heroic domains of Ysgard
Atmospheric haze is the best way of indicating extreme distance. Crapcore did include some of that, but making the distant earthberg more blue-tinted would definitely help.
Making the volcanoes more blue-tinted as they recede in the distance would also be a good idea.
thanks for the comment, the distance is indeed hard to guess because there's no earthmass between the warrior and the earthberg. But it isn't the worst thing if the guy seems huge, Ysgard is after all home to giants
The atmospheric haze might be a good idea, meaby some blurring to. how about this:
What do you guys think?
Meaby I will put something next to the guy/giant/midget to show its size, any suggestions?
I think the haze makes it look better.
Pants of the North!
This wiev gives a very good impression of Ysgard's epic meaning. coloring and drawing is excellent. I think, though, that the platform he stands on is not the same angle with the platform he is looking at. That one seems to be a lot deal higher than his, but he can see the lake from a perspective as if he is on the higher platform. This makes one feel as if that lake and mountain has a 30 degree angle downwars, resulting in the rhys's critique about the sense of distance. My suggestion would be to draw the Warrior's platform not looking sideways to, but pointing towars the other platform.
I know it would be extremely hard to re draw the whole picture like this, i just wanted to give an explanation to why it has a perspective loss. Ysgard looks great as it is.
This is excellent and I love your work. It's clear, well-presented, shaded, and visually attractive, and you've accurately captured both figure drawing and a landscape in one piece. Very nice.
My only critique is the sense of distance. I can't really tell how far things are supposed to be except by guessing based on relative sizes and occlusion. Not being an artist myself, I can't really think of how to best give the impression of things being very far away. All I can say for certain is that the edge of the foreground cliff is closer than the figure, who is closer than both the floating landmass and the volcanoes. Except for logic (which can't really be trusted in Planescape), the figure might as well be gargantuan, and standing on the volcanoes, his feet obscured by the cliff in the foreground.
