Hello, new to these forums and with a question

Regarding the email based gaming I read a post or 2 above. I used to be an avid DnD player, but my group broke up years ago and my work schedule keeps me from any groups that I've met willing to take a new player. So basically am left with very few options to pick up my old love affair with Dnd and most especially Planescape. How does one go about actually playing via email? Are there any campaigns willing to take a new (and very rusty) player? Thanks.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but wasn't sure where a post like this would go..

Right, we're still working on the section thing.

E-Mail based gaming is a bit tricky. You have to wait for an e-mail based DM to appear... perhaps someone will see this post and say "Hey I need a new player" but that's something of a longshot.

I suggest forum-based play (or Play by Post - PbP). Its similar to e-mail gaming except that the messages are placed on a forum. I find it to be a most elegant solution to online play (with some bugs and problems that must be resolved by the DM of course). Check out the Games Forum and browse around there to get a feel for it.

You can trawl through the game forums to find DMs and contact them by PM, jump into one of the freeform games (I think they accept anybody with a minimum level of writing ability), or advertise yourself as a player looking for X in the Games Online sticky above.

Hey, I need a new player Laughing out loud
I'm not running a email game, however. I'm gonna start a mirc thing in the next week, and I'm looking for some people who can play planars, rather than clueless primes. PM me if you're interested. The only problem could be the difference in time zones, if there is any (I'm +1 GMT)

Biggest issue for me playing via IRC is that the time I can play the most is through my work time, and I can't access irc's port at work Sad . So my only solutions are through forum or email, maybe even aim chat room if aim express supports it. Thank you for the information Smiling .

This isn't THE Dust is it? Formerly of Realms of Evil, and an Australian too as I recall...

Oh well...if anyone else wishes to play, there's room for one more player. Session starts today at 9 pm CET
