Guilty... and searching for project assistant

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry for being invisible for so long now. Life's been very stressful, but I'll try catching up as soon as possible again.

As I can't promise such things won't happen again, it'd be great to have a project assistant in here, so things don't fall into hibernation when I'm away for a bit.

Anyone volunteering?

I bet you'll get at least three hands up in the next 24h. Well, I'd do but I'm too much of a doomsayer I guess and not particular informed on any sources (though I did a good deal of reading the last months).

Besides, what "requirements" does your assistant need to fulfill?

Depending on the responsibilities, I'd be willing to offer my help; nevertheless, my organizational skills are atrocious so I'm probably the last person you'd want to take on in any capacity.

I'm with Hippo on this one. While I'm always happy to contribute the stray idea, I've a horrible track record with getting anything meaningful done. Hell, I'm still working on the bloody Malbolge thing, and real life is not helping in the least.

Good luck with finding somebody, and I, for one, understand your troubles completely.

What needs to be done by the Project Assistant (PA) is:

1. Looking out in the threads for questions that need to be solved.
If such a question comes up, there's the following options:
a) The question has already been solved in the project outlines, the PA only needs to give an answer referring to it.
Example: "I'd like to set up a rule saying Night Hags are really only giant squirrels with masks! Is that okay?" The answer would be, no, it's not okay, because the project outline says we don't mess up existing sources.
b) The question is solved by discussing/voting, the PA should then coordinate the discussions, possibly also start a new thread for it.
c) There's some reason why discussing this wouldn't be a good idea (e.g. the opinions are so different that a discussion would take years to solve), then we need a "decision from the top". The PA contacts me by PM and we decide it together.

2. If a topic gets stuck before it's really finished, the PA should try re-starting discussions, both by contacting writers and by posting new ideas and opinions himself.

3. The PA should get at least a rough overview of the new material posted in this forum, and see what fits the current project we're working on, as well as look out for how a posting should be changed to fit into our work.
Example: Someone posts an article about an amazing new location, but there's not a word about Hordlings or Hags in there. The PA tells the writer about it and gives ideas what could be changed to make the article fit into the project (e.g., "you could add something about Hags right there...").

4. The PA should be diplomatic and friendly in everything he does Smiling

Put short, the PA's task is to try keep things going here, and to make sure the project's theme and basic ideas are kept in the articles that are posted.

The requirements are, obviously, a good understanding of what the project's about, as well as mentioned "diplomatic understanding", but I think there's few people in here who don't have that.

Interestingly, although my little prophecy has been fulfilled it did so in a very rather unpropitious manner. Therefore I refrain from my refraining and volunteer for the job. While I do not possess the creative productivity of others here, I might be able to get some organization done (after this weekend's seminar). Its a good way to kill the dead hours between 0:00 and 5:00 anyway. Smiling

I'm actually too dizzy to think about what an assistants assistant would look like but it sounds funny (I realize there are several meanings for "funnny"; its not the offensive one).

Funny in the offencive term, is not really offencive its more of a word meaning weird or odd. Like me. And If that means I'm in charge of keeping your moral up than leave it to me!
(picks up harp and strums merrily)
Ohhhhh, the waste has drained their spirits,
But Zeniel sings a heart warming song!
It may give them the irrits,
But that ounce of rage gives them strength to go on!

There, you now have +5 to all saving throws. (head desk)

@Zeniel: I'm all for it. Smiling *can use moral bonus to get that customer project finished*

@Kay: I leave it to you whether you want Zeniel as "PA's assistant", or as 2nd Project Assistant (i.e. same tasks, shared work)!

Hiya,

as I also just posted in my PBP-Campaign - BIG sorry for another long delay.

I was hit by a heavy influenca, heavy enough so I couldn't stay in front of the computer for a single minute. I'm recovering now, but sadly, the influenca swallowed up the last days of my holiday, which ruined my plans of calmly browsing through all threads here.

Anyway, I haven't forgotten about you all and your great work. I'll get back into things again in the next few days and then we'll get the project moving again. Promised!

Awww - make sure you get plenty of warm soup and rest then. Being sick can wipe you out even after you're technically better, so give yourself time to get back up to speed. *offers chicken soup*
