Of course, keep in mind this is coming form the person who thinks a sketchbook of 'work in progress' is much more interesting to get from an artist than a polished final picture. I like the movement and flow in such examples of work.

But for why that one stood out - it honestly felt like a slightly different style for your work - like it was somethign you were experiementing with. I honestly didn't realize that was the prelim of what your work becomes, considering the solidity of the linework in what you normally produce. Eye-wink It's close to a style that I've been trying to develop myself for awhile now, that felt lighter and more ephemeral. It reminded me of some of the penwork of TonyD, just from the delicacy of line.

An example of what I mena (this is from his older website, I don't think you could find this image on his new one anywhere): Assassin? I think is the name of this one.

The lines you used for that one still manaaged to convey the weight you're aiming for (they trail off at the ends where I think you would normally use a thinner line, and are nice and solid where you'd have an extra thick line) - they just feel frailer and it seems to work for the way my eyes and head like it. Eye-wink

sweet Laughing out loud thank you! i tried to convey a total lack of hope and sadness for the lemure...expressions other than a smug smile are lacking as far as I'm concerned, so I'm glad you like that one Laughing out loud :D

And Clueless, do you need any illustrations for specific planar armor/items? I'd love to have a go at those Smiling

p.s. I have a bunch more Rilmani and 'loths, but they're not at the scanning stage yet...I should get on that Eye-wink and i have to sketch out all the modrons too *gack*

I agree. I love looking at people's sketches. If you check out my deviantart, i think i have some things like that, but now i know someone likes them, i might just post some more Laughing out loud or like a "making of" series where it goes from pencil to finished product Laughing out loud

While sketching all of the Rilmani, I worked directly off of Di's drawings. I've never really liked any DnD artists as much as I've liked him. I appreciate Lockwod and that other guy who does alot of the work for 3.5, but Di just has this amazing feel that he gave planescape...and if I've captured any of that, then my job is done! *claps hands* but that picture you linked me to was incredible! He's a fantastic artist. I totally strive to have the completeness of character that he shows. Eveything he draws just looks complete as it is, while I'm always feeling that I should do more, but I'm ranting Eye-wink

That's what I try for the most, I think I just get caught up in having nice think lines Laughing out loud I think it's the graphic/comic book artist in me that like to have everything filled in. Like if you used the "fill" feature on my art, everything would be one solid piece Laughing out loud I should work on trying to keep my stuff sketchy though, like Yoshitaka Amano (another of my absolute faves Laughing out loud)
If you haven't seen his stuff, I'd definately check it out. He did an amazing Sandman novel that's way to expensive for me to even think about getting now...but someday!!

Amano makes me drool. Eye-wink I know exactly what you mean by his line work.

And yeah - that's a good example for a planar compass - you can assume each of of those items is pretty uniquely made so they'll all have their unique 'spin' Eye-wink

I'm reviewing through all the PSCS chapter right now trying to bring them together so we can get illustrations into them.

You can if you like, but depending on my skill (or lack thereof ;D) I might not be able to do it, but yeah, knock yourself out Laughing out loud

I really like drawings from the head shot on downwards. The colors suit the characters well so I have little more to add to that. Smiling

If Canoloth vs. Athar was hentai, there'd be more tentacles, and she'd have lost her clothes already. Eye-wink

Is it so wrong that my reaction to virtually every single one of the females was "I'd hit it"? Eye-wink

I tried my best on the Fire Genasi....For the record, I abhor red, orange and yellow...so she was a little hard on the senses Laughing out loud

I believe they have their place and all, I just despise them Eye-wink

Well good, I don't want to try and get anything published that would titilate or arouse anyone.....

But I suppose that's also what I go for since I make them all so sexy Eye-wink

If you think about it....aren't we all?

I've still got to do the Harmonium, Sign of One, Revolutionary League and re-draw the Cipher, and I'm planning on making at least the Harmonium chick UN-attractive. That's my goal. I'ma try my best.
