Greetings.

Hiya. My name is Sam Oliver. Me and a few of my friends were contemplating starting to play D&D, and I have been trying to push the Planescape campaign setting. I'm more of a computer gamer than anything else, but I guarantee that I'm not totally lost, as I have a head for numbers, write rather fluidly and interestingly enough typically, and I love the idea of character development. I recently graduated from highschool, and am seeking a career in game design (primarily RPGs, as that is where most innovation in the gaming market comes from).

I haven't technically played D&D before, but I know a decent amount from studying D&D computer game manuals like Neverwinter Nights, Temple of Elemental Evil, and Planescape: Torment (which I only just recently acquired from E-Bay). So far, Planescape is about the only D&D campaign setting that really caught my eye... As Greyhawk and Forgotten both strike me as rather generic and stereotypical medeival fantasy, and I would say uninspired if not for R.A. Salvatore's books, of which I am a big fan.

I am also an amatuer writer, already developing a story and setting for a game concept I've been working on. I'm a bit of an artist as well, but I am still developing though to hopefully some point of mild satisfaction. When I am not working on anything else, I mix music for my own enjoyment, but my main passion is in RPGs.

Welcome!  I hope that you

Welcome!  I hope that you can find inspiration among these pages.  I've been playing DND for ... quite some time now, and find it a wonderful outlet for my creativity.  I DM a play-by-post on the forums here.  You may want to consider joining or creating a game here yourself.  Or just browse.  In any case, here's to hoping you'll find much of interest and make a few new friends too.

Oh! I Love play-by-post

Oh! I Love play-by-post RPing. ^^ I have been on numerous Play-by-post
RP forums, of course, none of those were in a D&D setting, so I'll
be having to get used to this. xD Still, I love to RP, so I'm glad to
be here.

Also...  The Eliminster Series of novels from Ed Greenwood not too bad either.   and yes   Planescape is my favorite setting ever,         also some other older games but they all set in forgotten realms pretty much is the old Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2 with expansions etc...  but they are older than planescape torment or about same as far as graphics go...  NWN2 not too bad so far i just recently bought that myself.

I heard of Ed Greenwood!

I heard of Ed Greenwood! Unfortunately, I don't see many of his books at the public library nearby (if any, it's in the middle of a series)... And the closest big bookstore is maybe a 45-minute drive, which sucks... As for Baldur's Gate, I heard of those but I haven't played them yet... Just read reviews of all sorts and seen screenshots. To be honest, my RPG roots started with JRPGs like Final Fantasy, but I've lost trust for Squre-Enix after FFX, and begun to turn towards more western RPGs, besides Mistwalker's stuff and Shin Megami Tensei.
