GM desperately seeking acronym!

I'm in dire need of an acronym!

I'm working on a planar campaign, the basic premises is that a new law enforcement agency is being created in Sigil. Its an interplanetary agency that will investigate crimes committed in Sigil, they will have jurisdiction all over the multiverse (on paper at least, enforcing it will probably be sketchy at best but hey, RP opportunities en masse) so no criminal breaking the laws of Sigil will be safe!

The players will of course be drafted into this agency, with promises of power, money, jurisdiction, backing/funding, and so on... much of this will be exaggerations (if not downright lies), but the agency is for real.

The tone of the campaign is meant to be humorous, its the odd meeting of crime shows (NCIS, CSI, X files and the like) and Planescape, with bit of the Ankh Morpork City Watch style thrown in (for the clueless, its a Discworld thing).

I'm well on my way, I've decided on the Pathfinder system as I rather like 3.5 and PF is supposed to be a lot like it, only better and smoother. I've got classes and prestige classes sorted, I need to find/make PF stats for Bariuars but the big thing, the real issue here, is that I'm sorely in need of a name for my agency.

It would be great if it uses a real world law enforcement acronym (FBI, CIA), cool if it just sounds like one but overall, it just has to work.

Any suggestions?

I'll give this more thought but a few quick, quirky ideas:
Sigil Highway Portal (SHiPs) - with Ponch and Jon
Sigilian Law Officers, Multi-Planar (SLOMP)
Sigil Officers of Law Enforcement (SOLE)
Inter-Dimensional Law Enforcement (IDLE)
Lady’s Unit of Criminal Investigation (LUCI)

Portal Patrol.

The group's HQ has a sign with a P and an L each on two sides of cheap ioun stones orbiting a rotating ORTA in stained glass, so that they spell out the words with the same letters:

P ORTA L
P ATRO L

...ATRO being ORTA backwards.

Not an acronym, but memorable.

Thats a very interesting idea Jem, my only real concern is that the spinning idea wont work for a badge?

I'll have to make few doodles and see if I can fit things in Smiling

On the subject of badges, what would be appropriate, seeing as Sigil doesnt have a Coat of Arms (to my knowledge)?

Perhaps in circular lettering; the vertical alignment of the letters on top and bottom would give a similar visual effect?

Who would bear it? Perhaps a dabus who spoke for the Lady?

I suspect the City's coat of arms, such as might ever get made, would be the ubiquitous image we see of The Lady in Her blades, probably colored proper, and I think a field vairy would be appropriate, since it can be made out of furs or skins (of people who have recently displeased the Lady). Argent and sable for official documents.

For the Portal Patrol, perhaps two arched doorways, one open, one closed, surrounded by the lettering in a circle? You could even specify that if the door on the dexter is open, it's a field agent, and a door on the sinister is a desk jockey, while both doors open is Internal Affairs and both doors closed is a deputized citizen, or something of that nature.

The doorways/portals need to be more detailed, the letters are crooked and aren't in the PS font, and I'd like the spikes to look more like the blades of the Planescape logo, but the gist of it's there.

I'm no artist, but fortunately, I happen to know an artist.

Thanks for the great ideas Jem Smiling
