Ghostbusters in Urban Planescape

I just watched the first Ghostbuster movie last night, and I was wondering if they could somehow be adapted to the UP Project.

What do you think?

Certainly - though not on the Outer Planes. There are no ghosts there (no Ethereal connection).

So, how 'bout a "Petitioner Retreival/Collection Agency?"

As long as it's not a carbon copy of the original. You'd probably need to tone down the technology too.

Now we finally get ourselves into the evolution of the adventuring party.

"When there's something strange... in the neighborhood. Who you gonna call?"

"Ghost Busters!"

I'm all in favor, honestly. It's a bit cheesy, but the Ghost Busters are just too much fun not to make a nod to. They could go after petitioners from the lower planes that leak out, after all.

"Don't cross the staves!"

I concur. Given that the "who ya gonna call" tagline is practically the motto of adventurers anyway, I'd suggest a franchise system like in the old Ghostbusters RPG (and some guvnor definitely needs to translate the contract it came with into Planespeak!)

Probably run by Yugoloths, through third parties of course.

Isn't everything run by Yugoloths through third parties? You could always have ghost busters on the inner planes who suck up all the damn "Prime Tourists" and dump them back on some other plane.

I can picture a Marid paying a lot of money to get rid of a bunch of Ghostly Sahaugin.

Mephit removal and ooze cleaning. OIE anyhow rumor has it Dan Akroyd (it's off of wiki so I can't be totally positive) wanted the ghostbusters to be interdimensional "ghostbusters" that fought various baddies and used rather impressive staves not proton packs. I don't fully belive it but hey gives us a little bit of an idea of what UPS ghostbusters may be like.

P.S. and yes they still had the ectomobile it was how they traveled through dimensions.

Sounds good to me. But remember, the ghostbusters didn't just fight ghosts. Maybe they could be called apon to fight dangerous outsiders and elementals on the Material.
