SR or not, you made the will save. Your criticisim of Sigil's law enforcement seems t have struck a nerve, though. He signals, that one of his squads should check out the fire.

"Ma'am, I'll see what we can do, but we're no bucket brigade. I'll call for more help,"

Drum sheds his invisibility, and assumes the form of the Archon now behind the door. In his new form, he knocks on the door.

OOC: Wei, I didn't want to go all the way down, just down enough to catch up with the other two Archons who were trapped behind the forecage.

Am I correct in saying- that the forecage trapped me, the Archon that ran back up (and is now behind the door), and the other two who didn't come up - all on the upper level? Because that was the assumption that I was making

"i'm not buying your vile tricks, fiend!"

Drum goes crazy with laughter

AHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!!

Drum steps to the side of the door, and reactivates his invisibility.

He also looks around to see if there are any windows out of which he can jump.

There are no windows, but you could jump up the chimeney and onto the roof, I guess (there's no fire and it's a pretty big chimney)

Round 6:

Ixa (DM reference only):
Ixa retreives his familiar to watch his back and then casts project image on the street near the palladins (it is invisible along with him). He is using the projected image's senses.

Min & Penance

The archon Min has knocked over is still powerless to defend himself (again, 2 full power attacks (18 damage) plus annother -2 to BAB and -9 to str in 1 minute (he failed all four saves against the secondary damage, a minute won't make this guy very happy). Recognizing that the archon is probably close to bleeding to death, Min lets go of his neck.

Penance presses the advantage against his cornered foe. He scores one hit (22 damage). The archon seems to be wearing down and his defenses are inadequite. Much more of this beating and he will be dead.

Archon under attack by Pennance:
Fights defensifely.

Archon fighting Min:
Held.

Archon trapped by Drum:

Casts repulsion (1 7th level spell), drinks a potion of cure serious wounds (taking average, it fixes all of his damage)

Box archon:

She takes no action.

Canzon:

The squad sent to check out the fire reports it's findings:

"Sir!, That's a fiend! The family in this house is unhurt and the fire isn't very serious."

The eight paladins near you draw thier longswords and ready thier shields.

"I advise that you surrender immediately, fiend," says the officer, "You are outnumbered."

Drum:

You land garcefully. From the roof, you can see a house across the street smoking, but not burning seriously. Four city guardsmen in heavy armor are helping the family remove some of their valubles from the house. You also see eight other city guards--weapons drawn--menacing a rich looking woman. You don't see anything else of interest.

Still Invisible, Drum jumps from the roof, to the ground, near the entrance of the house (ideally halfway between the entrance and the 8 guards). When he lands, he changes his form to that of another city guard and tries to listen into the exchange between them and the woman.

He also eyes the woman, mostly to see if she's worth "violating".... to satiate his demented, psychopathical desires.

HAHAH- Drum Violates Canzon, now THAT would be funny!

Drum:

Canzon is around the corner of the street, so the jump is a considerable distance away from Jowen's house and a long way down.

(OOC: you'd take 11 falling damage (40 feet's worth. I could do the trig, but...numbers...yeah...those.)

You can still make it though considering how high up you are. I assume you want to land behind the eight guards. A city guard falling from the sky might be a bit odd to the eight who are half-surrounding Canzon. Just a little bit. How Canzon reacts to you is up in the air. Especialy if you're looking at him creepy-like Laughing out loud .

Bruce picks up the archon, throws him over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, and walks out the front door whistling a a tune that a select few might recognize as a particularly vulgar jammer-shanty.

Wait, I’m confused here:
Canzon waited until round 6 for his latest reply, as noted in my last post:

'Dunamin' wrote:
After about six seconds, “she” musters the strength to answer the officer.

Then, did the squad just move out, investigate and return back all in the same round?! By their description it sounded like they’re wearing at least medium armor, and by their inability to spot the fire it sounded like the burning building was much farther away than you could reach with a single move action!

Not that I’m complaining about the development, just the speed of it. The whole point was to divert or stall for as long as possible, so the others had more time to finish off the archons.

Canzon

OOC: Okay, noted. Treat those actions as bieng on round six.
The other squad hasn't returned yet. Unless combat starts, they'll be helping the noncombatants for annother few rounds (and even then they'll be a round late either way. I'm not keeping exact track of movement, but the building is far enough away to get to while jogging. The main problem is the the fire wasn't making enough smoke to be easily seen. Pointing it out helped since the palladins don't have great spot checks. The guards would also prefer to plan before storming the nuilding, and you've forced them to revaluate all that because of the possibility you've overheard something, adding a bit more time. You've bought a few rounds at least, maybe more if you can surrender very, very slowly.

Bruce:

OOC: Walking outside involves passing throught the blade barrier. You can make the save, but the poor almost-dead archon can't. Where are you planning to take him anyway? It's a long walk to anywhere safe carrying a dead guy on your shoulders.

When Bruce reaches the blade barrier, he stops and looks at the archon. He sets him down and sets to work.

When eventually guards accuse Canzonzabar’s persona, the woman appears confused and horrified… and as if she is not completely in her right mind.

“Wha- what? Oh gods! You’re the monsters in disguise, you’ve returned! Don’t hurt me!”

The lady backs away from the soldiers in a direction away from Jowen’s house, holding her hands up in a faint attempt to shield herself from harm.

OOC:

Round 7:

(Canzon has acted)

Canzon:

OOC: You are surrounded in a half circle. You can step backwards (towards the street that Jowen's house is on or sideways)

"Ma'am if you aren't a fiend then you have nothing to fear from us. Please surrender." The oficer seems fairly certain you are a fiend despite his words.

Ixa:
Uses a quickened charm person on the other oficer (among the group of eight) (1 5th level slot) (the oficer makes his save but doesn't notice that his mind has been attacked). Ixa then switches focus to his real body and casts circle of death (1 6th level slot) on the family and the squad of four soldiers helping them. The four civilians are killed instantly as are all of the guards. They don't have time to warn thier fellows, though thier armor falls loudly against the cobblestones.

Bruce:
You succesfully stabalize the archon, though you doubt you could carry someone so heavy (especially in the armor) for very long.

Min
Trying to avoid hurting the archon any more with her claws, Min starts punching him instead. While she hits (full atack+an off hand), she evidently has not fought with her fists very often, and cuts herself with her own claws. While the damage heals instantaneously, the blood remains.

Penance:

The innevitables attacks acheive thier result dropping the archon (OOC: this guy is quite dead now.)

Tripped and Held archon:

Min:
Min retrieves her sword as she moves to the fallen archon and casts a spell (haste, 1 3rd level spell--make spellcraft checks if you want)

No disrespect in that, I've skipped out on my fair share of losing battles. Or you can stay, and we have a friendly duel the way the gith pirates do it, no such thing as fair play and first one to die loses."

Expecting his companions to have dealt with the celestials by now, Canzonzabar attempts a final con before leaving the scene.

He throws his head back and laughs madly, then gives the officer a wild and savage look and shouts with a glance thrown to his side, neither towards nor opposite to Jowen’s house.

“Regroup at the Shattered Temple my Abyssal minions!”

Then he teleports to the house, somewhere on the ground floor that seemed reasonably clear (though not trapped in by the blade barrier).

Ixa (rather his projected imgage) shifts his form into that of someone apropriately insane and chaotic looking. He becomes visible, and laughs insanely to get the guard's atention. They spin around careful of being attacked from behind.
"Yeeeheeeheeee! Shiny men! Shiny men! Look at me! Lookit me, I'm a distraction!"

Ixa casts mass hold person (1 seventh level spell slot, the mooks don't make thier saves.) He then walks to the oficer who was talking to canzon and pushes him over.

OOC: Well, there isn't much space. You weren't next to him

The archon Bruce had just chalenged to a duel collapses, unconscious.

"Leave him alone this time," says Min, looking meaningfully at Bruce. "We need to finish off the last two before we leave. Apparently, the city guard's response was unimpressive. The exchange takes the falxugon slightly by surprise, yet he is quick to jump in at the notion of a deal.

“A bargain, is it? I always carry documentation to seal such arrangements in print that binds by cosmic forces. I would be pleased to provide these means and function as mediator at a later time - for a minor fee, of course.”

“For now, both of you stop your bickering lest you compromise the operation. I will begin to search for evidence to shed some light on this matter.”

If no other threats appear nearby, Canzonzabar will search the downed celestials and begin rummaging through the ground floor thoroughly, looking for anything out of the ordinary in relation to a normal living: Suspicious documents, objects, etc.

"You might check the other room here," says Penance, "I think the floor is hollow"

OOC: What did the archons carry?

After searching the sword archons, Canzon follows Penance’s advice and starts with the floor in the room he indicated (teleporting across blade barriers if needed).

OOC: I'll post round 9 later today.

OOC: Dunamin, I'll just consider your actions to be out of combat now, so don't worry about rounds

Canzonzabar:

Upon searching the bodies Canzonzabar finds that all of them are wearing glammored plate armor (though you knew that already) in adition to thier swords, each archon carries two daggers. One is cold iron and the other silver. Both burn your hands like holy weapons. The archon is wearing the simple clothing of many warriors of Celestia and niether the clothing nor any jewlery has any symbols or markings to identify which organization the archon belongs to, although all of the archon's cloaks look to be Acridian-made.

You find that the floor below your feet (beneath the rug) in the other room is hollow. When you move the rug, you can see no trace of a catch or handle, though you have (you think) determined the location of the trapdoor.

Round 9:

Upstairs archon:

Continues his search. He is getting worried.

Min:

Uses telekinesis to disarm (AoO missed), beats SR, and succeeds on opposed roll. Min then makes a full attack. Only one of her strikes finds home. This archon is not doing so well either at this point.

Box archon:

The box archon raises her hands, invoking some sort of divine power. The white light washes over Min to little effect. (Succesfully casts destruction (1 7th) defensively, but fails to overcome SR)

Ixa (DM reference):
Switches focus to himself, reclaims familiar, teleports downstairs and begins to look for ways to make the fire worse. (exits combat)

The Joker, aside from checking his surroundings to make sure no one has True Seeing or is about to cast Invisibility Purge, continues to focus his easily distracted mind towards the guard.

Drum: You are still behind both guards. Even if they had true seeing, they couldn't see you.

OOC: waiting on the other two.
